Something Funny happened to me last night. I am using a single 9800GX2 EVGA Card. I upgraded to 178.24. I just could not get the quality that I did with the old 178.14. After a couple of hours of tinkering I gave up and reinstalled the old drivers. I am now running the 178.14s and they look good. However, my frames are kind of low (30 to 50 avg).
Is anyone using this card?
This machine's specs are as follows.
3.0 Duo Proc
Asus P5K3 Deluxe
2Gig of DDR3

Any suggestions?

What graphics settings you running the game in, I presume Perfect, but what water etc?

I too have a 9800GX2, and cannot get above 20FPS on perfect with water=2, 13 on water=3 & 4, but when on excellent it doesn't dip below 150...

I've done all the settings BS as well but still, it stays poo...

I have the same card and now I'm using the setting found here:

the driver is XTreme G-drivers 178.13

With water=4 I have 20-24 FPS

I tested all the DLLs but I don't found any difference.

My PC:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Extreme
Processor: Intel Q9300 2500MHz 1333 FSB
RAM: 2X 2GB DDR3
OS: WinXP Pro SP3

Yes, Magpie. All is running in Perfect. Quality wise all looks great. I would say it looks better than ever. I just runs ... Slow. Water = 1 only. I will look at them settings again. Just turning off "exension limit" and multitheaded optimization can make a world of difference. I learned this in the Ubi forums. These two settings are under the program settings in the VGA Gui.

multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration - Single display performance mode
(if you are not using multi-display's)

although I can't see any differents between this setting and this one below this line

what about this ? I am confused :roll: .....or is this for using devices such as TrackIR so the use the other core?

you know, when you go to task manager, find the IL2exe task, right click, set affinity, and check the core you want to use

Set cores? Really, I thought that was a conf.ini thing. I set a line in the conf.ini to run the game on one core. I dont remember what core or what line it is but seems to have worked. Performance is much better these days since I put the new machine to use. However, I dont want to power through problems, I want to resolve them. The new machine has 8800s in SLI, 3.3 Duo with 6Mb cache, 4 gigs of DDR3 and an Audigy 2ZS.

I thought this setting refered to weather the video card uses both GPUs or only one to run the game. Multi GPU acceleration and Single Display Performance Mode is what I aim for.
Am I right?
I have not Turned off Nvidia PhysX to No acceleration. I dont have a PhysX card. I figure IL2/Lock On dont use or benefit from this technology.
Is anyone running Nvidia Beta 180.xx? I am on 178.24.

Ok , found this out. Here is how I set the machine to run IL2 on one proc. The other proc runs everything else. I got this off a fella in some forum. Seems to work....

I have VSinc on. I am getting 55avg fps in The Black Death with Water 4.
