I notice newer updates on the a/c installer & wonder ( dimly) if it is necessary or even advisable to keep updateing this tool? If so do I need to uninstall previous version?
The aircraft installer contains the new Flight models for the new planes, so if you installed a new plane but have an old aircraft installer, the game will crash at 60% loading because that's the time it reads the buttons file. If that file doesn't contain the flight model for a plane that is now in game, loading will be aborted and the game will exit to desktop.
So in essence it is best if you install the newest AC-installer whenever you install a new plane. Unused entries in the buttons file don't seem to be a problem, so you don't have to install all new planes that come out.
Thanks guys...one or two more questions do I need to install all these in sequence & do I need to uninstall the previous version first???
This explains why newest palnes like that B-29 aren't showing up!
Just install the latest AC installer, don't worry about uninstalling old ones.
Houston -we have a problem...I just ran the newest installer V 2.8 as suggested...but the games gets to 60% iload & CTD!I used the AAA install (#6 in menu screen) but I get the same results no matter which number I choose. I'm sure if I run inatller again I'll get the sim to work ...but I wonder what gives in trying to install new installer???
Check your mods folder for a Buttons file. If there is one there remove it. If not then uninstall all the new aircraft and see if your game works ( it should do) then you can re install 1 by 1 to find out what the problem was.
Found buttons file in two place1 Removed both...Game still works...now should I try the newest ac installer??
Also found a button file in Files folder outsiide of Mods in 1946 folder but figured I better leave it until I heard from you!
