How to increase c0ckpit texture resolution
#1

I have been interested in redoing a pit or two, and was wondering how to increase the res from 256 to 800, like described in the P80 thread.
The increased red looks so much better and has been done a few times here in AAA. Those pits look great.
How do you increase the res?

Create a new texture with higher resolution and put it in a mods subfolder with the same name and folder structure as the old texture?
Upscaling old textures just doesn't cut it.
You need the ViewIMF-V1_0.exe, which i don't know anymore where i got it from. Then you can extract the sfs archieves with the sfs extractor and open the old textures with the IMFViewer, save them to something editable and edit them with the image manipulation program of your choice.
I don't know if that answered your question, you've got to ask more precisely.

just resize desired tga files to 512x512 or 1024x1024 ( if want for guys with average systems to hate your guts  )

additional sharpening may be needed , though( or reworking of blurred parts )

look at any mooded pit files for reference
