Just saying hi. I'm a WW2 nut. I've worked for years in visual effects in the film biz. I do make-up effects, CGI and model work. If you check my profile you will see the link to my web site to learn more about me.

My hobbies are RC aircraft, boats, tanks and submarines. Oh and online combat. But I've decided to get into air combat. I've had IL2 for awhile but never really gave it a chance.

Installing the game now. Will patch and install the mods I found here. Got the installer files downloaded and will give that so time tomorrow.

Just wanted to say thanks for this forum, the server and the support for this game. I'm very impressed with all your efforts. No small feat!

And thanks for keeping the memory of WW2 alive. My parents and grand parents would thank you as they were involved!

Do I get the 4.09 patch or go with the 4.08?

Thanks,

hi, and welcome Big Grin

i would strongly suggest that you go with AAA UI option .... it will bring you up to date and you'll get also user friendly version switcher .

So patch your vanilla game up to 4.08 and install AAA UI , after that look for "Il2VersionSwitcher.exe" located in game root directory .... make shortcut to it on desktop . Run it and choose game version you need .

Next thing is getting latest version of AC INSTALLER ( 3.0 ATM) and language fix ( if needed) and you are ready to go.

Always have the most recent version of AC INSTALLER installed no matter which mod you are about to install .

hope that helps

Thanks very much for the tip and the the story. I feel very proud to be part of the history of WW2 through my family as I'm sure you do.

Managed to get a clean install last night. Put in the v4.08 patch. Will take a bit of reading to get my head around the does and don'ts. I have many games I have played. BF2, OR to MOHA and more. But with all of those mods are just an easy exe or drop to folder.

I was pleased to see that the 1946 IL2 has one of my favorites. The TA-183 which I have modeled and flown. Now it's a kit and they are a few in Europe flying as well at my local field. It was nice to get in the drivers seat. Not a bad flying plane.
