P-47M/N

I know Th!rdeye has had plans to include these late-war Thunderbolts into the game but as I understand it would require some 3d class work to get a proper model included.

I think many would love to see these fine birds added. We lack plenty of essential planes from many theatres of operations and I believe these would be a fine addition to the late-war PTO and ETO fronts.

I think there are many more urgent planes needed , this is only a addition/clone of some version of P47 you can play with right now ( notice there are even 3 in the gameWink

Rubbish. There were a great many more P47M/Ns operational than Dora11/13s, DO335s, 109Ks, 10914s,Lerches etc.
These were higher performance and longer range than the P47s we now have in game and will help level the playing field for US late model fighters, of which we have few. Except for the P80, there are no late '44/early '45 American aircraft in game.
Lets not be in a hurry to shout it down, if someone wants to build it.

The thing is of the P-47M/N Thunderbolt is that paddel props. Made the airplane more faster and also you have a 3000 horsepower engine so speed is the key with this Thunderbolt. Other thing is that this model here was equipped with eight M3 Browning .50 caliber machine guns so we'll have more firepower.

i completely agree! i think people should be making totally new planes instead of different versions of planes already in the game. i would mod if my computer supported 3D max, but it doesn't.

for me its anyway way better than makeing some jets and korean war projects. This could be nice addition and FF its easy to do on 3d but with FM is way difficoult, here is just different policy and you must leave with thisTongue, you could interest much more people if this could be Dora D-500000 or so than US plane

Both versions of the P-51D in the game are Mid-44 and later planes (it was first delivered to units in the ETO in March 1944. The -20 version with the K-14 gunsight came in later in 1944..). Later production blocks (-25 and -30) differed in details only, with no noticeable change in performance. The only thing missing from late Mustangs are zero-length rocket rails as seen on late -25 and -30 block planes.

The P-51H never saw combat, not even in Korea. The first prototype flew in Feb 1945 and while some units in the Pacific received them before the end of the war, they did not see action. There were 555 produced, so it would still be nice to see for some "what -if" scenarios.

Having said all that, I would rather see another variant of the P-47 (or any other plane, like the F4U-4) that had more than a dozen or so examples produced and actually saw combat. For better or worse, a lot of people seem infatuated with late-war fantasy Luftwaffe variants that barely got off the drawing board than other, more significant planes.

And its just that, an infatuation. There are very few mods that are WIP for fantasy Luftwaffe aircraft. I personally think that yes, this would make a nice mod but at the moment there is a sufficient in game stand in. I would honestly prefer more effort be put into aircraft that have been WIP since the dawn of time, such as the Wellington, Lancaster, Neptune and Ju88 variants than to have an additonal Thunderbolt in game.

Academic, in any case, since nobody has expressed interest in making these versions yet, so far as I know.

Th!rdeye had plans to include these with the release of his new P-47C, P-47Ds and a few new P-51s but as I recall he dropped the project for the moment.

The P-47M was the hot rod. At 470 MPH It was some 40MPH faster than the P-4D's models we have in the game. It was a pure fighter, not configured for ground attack. ETO only.
The P-47N was almost as fast as the M, but was optimized for long range in the Pacific. More fuel capacity, bigger square tipped wings. PTO only. They operated from Iwo Jima and Okinawa on VLR missions against mainland Japan and Tawain.

F4U-4 at 446 MPH was some 29 MPH faster than the F4U-1D. Debuted in Okinawa and was in combat in bigger numbers than the F4U-1C.

Doodle,

Hate to tell you, but you need to brush up on your history. Republic introduced the first Paddle Props on the P47C models. All versions of the P47 had 8 .50's

The P-47's are beign worked on. Newer versions will hopefully be included soon. -30's, M and eventually the N. basicly the M only requires an FM change as some did not have the tail fillet. the N is much harder in that it is a complete modeling change due to wings, fillet, and otehr changes to include the cockpit. The P-47 late is only close to M performance. In truth it really is not close. Roll rates are off on all Jugs too. Let's hope that in the next HSFX version some will be included. We really do need to have newer versions of the Jug so that API ammo can be used in it.

2800hp if the engine is well tuned. Don't exaggerate Big Grin
