I agree, top notch stuff Joe!

One teensy thing though; if this map is intended for higher altitude flight, as it may use Compans' fantastic textures which are 2D, won't it look a bit odd flying at very low altitude with the flat landscape of the housing/london textures-and then the big building that stands out that is the houses of parliment? Or maybe I'm wrong and you'll use your fantastic terraced houses and the textures in your screenshots are of Compans' textures? Sorry I am getting confused, but your map is brilliant and I just want you to clarify as I know that you want the final release to be the FINAL release... Big Grin

Fantastic piece of work - really looking forward to the new version. One observation rather than a critism - the texture you have used for the Palace of Westmister is more representative of the building as it is today (i.e. post late 20th C cleaning). In the 1940s with 90 years of coal smoke fuel London pea soopers, I am pretty sure the House of Parliament were pretty dirty. I don't have any photographic evidence to hand but I remember the building in the early 80s (pre-sand blasting) covered in black soot.

Same goes for all the prominent London land marks - the white limestone of St Paul's in particular was filthy pre the cleaning work in the late 80s.

Phillip - yes, you've got it wrong Smile The map will use Compans textures and also my new English houses (arranged to follow the road pattern on the textures) so it will look great from low down and high up. I just hadn't populated London when I placed Parliament.

Yardstick - that's a good point. Perhaps I'll dirty it up a little.

Very nice - An absolute stunner! Tell me, you plan to have all the major London landmarks? Like that big dome'd building?

The Millenium Dome? Hardly....

Wink

Yes, St Pauls is one of them. I won't have every major landmark but I will have Parliament, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, St Pauls and Buckingham Palace.

Same, +1 for Warmwell next Cannon if you have time

EDIT: also, thanks for clearing stuff up about the map-silly me! Any chance, if you have time, of getting some screenshots of a populated London, both from above(say 10000 feet) and then at around 100 feet? Also, is it possible to have the cities populated, but when you get a lot higher to have Compans' textures come up so that there's no frame rate loss? Just a thought, but I feel it has already been advocated.

Warmwell is on the backburner for a fortnight whilst I finish some objects.

Phillip - I haven't run a full population of London yet, but I'll post pics when I do. Because the objects have a max draw view, they disappear when you're far away. So, if you're at 10,000ft you'll see the city textures and when you get lower the textures will be covered by buildings, following the same street patterns as the texture.

Okely dokely, thanks for the info

Also, any idea as to what might be included in the final release as to skins, missions etc? (If any are included at all)
