BoB releasing date ....
#91

Hey guys,

My first post here. I heard about this site at LockOnFiles.com, by one of our members. Which is kind of unique in the way that i have just recently started to fly 1946 again. One question that i have is there a download section or just scroll trew the forums for downloads.

But in regards to 1c/Ubisoft. We at Lockonfiles have been waiting for the release of DCS Blackshark. Originally a add on for Lock On Flaming Cliffs, but then became a one helicopter only stand alone study sim. Then it was postponed on the release date for around 3 years. Then it was released in Russia first. To this day we are still waiting for the western version. 1C/Ubisoft/Eagle Dynamics/Matt Wagner have ticked off enough people that the Russian release was cracked and posted on torrent sites 2 days after the initial release.

But anyway, great site and I will begin my downloads once I get home. Big Grin

Yes..Ubisoft hasn't said a word since they annouced a BOB SOW release date for the end of 2006. Ubisoft would probably prefer that BOB be pushed out the door sooner and may be at odds with the developers. Their lawyers may be in conference as we speak, but thats all speculation. The developers have hinted that all is fine with their relationship with Ubisoft. I really don't care who publishes the product as long as we have some avenue to purchace it.

Everyone would be guessing at this point. Even Oleg would be unsure as to when it will be released. There are just to many variables to make that call. He's hoping for a release before Christmas of 2009. With the release of IL-2 1946, all of Olegs team has finally been able to conscentrate on SOW, and with the help of Luthier's team, I see a good chance of that happening. Financial pressures may force him to release the game by the end of next year.

If SOW is released with a feature or two missing I'm sure those features will be added in patches or the next addon. Of course that all depends on sales and piracy. Even with a few features missing SOW will be far superior than anything we have seen before.

hey fellas just read an interview in PC Pilot's nov/dec 2008 issue, and they interview the man oleg. doesnt seem "Financial Pressure" is an issue. guess " storm of war" is name of series, with BOB being the first to be released. and I'm guessing we can expect a Europe and Pacific war's release. too much cool stuff. must read the interview.

Yes, I read the same interview, http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/m ... allcut.jpg
But that doesn't mean he can go on indefinitely with the existing resources. There is a good chance he will be under considerable financial pressure if the release date is extended well into 2010.

Yes the interview info was very interesting. I tried to order the magazine, but for some reason their on-line store didn't think British Columbia was part of Canada, lol.

WWII is ingrained in me.. when I was growing up as a little child, every adult I came in contact with was involved, took part in, or had a story to tell.. I certainly don't need some lunatic coming on here and try to tell me to forget it and move on!..
The very reason he has the ability to come on here and spout off such bollocks is because the war took place and he now has the freedom to talk pish!

December 2009 is my bet.

No worry to wait for the best air combat WW2 simulator in history.

Well guys i don't post very often but i couldn't resist a few lines....first off to the guy going on about the 2nd world war..i can understand many people have strong opinions about war! but please this isnt the place to start rationalising the ethics here...this is a site that takes pride in the AIRCRAFT that flew in that war....i may be wrong but most guys here would love the fw190 or me109 just as much as a spitfire or mustang...to us its not about sides or who did what and the resulting demise and sad result of politics gone mad! Its about the Aircraft themselves along with all the aspects of their roles and capabilities...this of course includes all the amazing ground structures and other stuff that makes it a great simulation.

I personally love the many innovative designs and different approaches taken by different countries to produce the many amazing flying machines used in the defence or attack roles of their countries in ww1 and 2.

I was at the RAF museum at Cosford in the uk the other day and they had all sorts of engines showing the complex and amazing designs, it was interesting to see the different approach taken with the big air cooled radials against the inline v engines from other designers...i will post some pics later of them later.

I personally cant wait for oleg and his amazing team to give us what in reality is something extremely special and amazing..VERY possibly the best flight sim engine to be released for many many years to come...

Oleg is without a doubt a great genius with a deep understanding and love for what he does.... i count myself very privileged to eventually be flying with his and his teams creation!....

I cant see the sim being released much later than 2010...it would be nice to see it this xmas but i would rather wait and Oleg release a finished product than a buggy 3 quarters done release...

And looking from the shots its already a masterpiece....in my eyes possibly the finest piece of software to be released!

I would just like to thank everyone here for making this site what it is and its collective talents to constantly strive to add immense pleasure to il-1946......
