DARK BLUE SKY ?
#1

NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE GOOD PLACE ?

Hello every one

I AM ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED BY ALL YOUR MODS !!!

(I use almost all of them on my IL2FB, and I've never played so much with it since the beginning.....

and it was already an incredible sim... Just cannot stop !!)

I've been dreaming of a mod since the beginning, don't know if it is hard coded or if it can be tweaked ;

:?:
EXPLAIN :
External view of an aircraft if high altitude : DARK BLUE SKY

then

I switch on external view of next aircraft WHICH IS AT LOW ALTITUDE...

For about one second, the program has not reacted yet, and the sky is still dark blue at low altitude
IT LOOKs AWESOME !
Because the puffy clouds are bright white on a dark blue sky...
LOOKS BEAUTIFULL Confusedhock: Confusedhock: Confusedhock:

THEN program realises that we are at low altitude, and Whoof !
We get the very same FADE-UNIFORM-PALE blue sky we get at low alt...

I dont know if you see what I mean, maybe you disagree... Sad

BUT FOR ME, THIS MOD IS THE HOLY GRAIL !!!!

I didnt see any post about that, so I suppose nobody cares.... Cry

BUT IF YOU HAVE NEWS ABOUT THIS, PLEASE TELL ME !

Oooops ! someone is looking for me ?
Seriously , with this game you never know what you gonna get.
Maybe somebody will take a loook in to it Tongue
Me personaly ? it's the time delay between those two blue colors bothering a little bit .

Sincerely,

I would prefere the pale one. So dark it's not realistic. I asked the question to some real pilots. Maybe good in Murmansk map (very very North), but not realistic in other maps.

Dee the post for Dogeaters Chroma map, with that you can have green sky, Chroma blue or, in the words of the song "Any colour you like". (6000m and below - above will still be the usual dark blue)

Well... :?

What bothers me is that it is pale sky from bottom to top when you fly at low alt....

while it should be bright near horizon and getting A BIT darker while the eye goes to the top..

and not a uniform pale blue

I am not talking about changing the color itself into another one

I am talking about using the progressive BRIGHT-->DARKER that is used in the game when you gain altitude

Like on those LOW ALTITUDE (REAL WORLD) Pictures ;

NOW , Big Grin
I am not talking about REALISM, but about something that looks good
(just my opinion over here Smile )

(anyway, if it is possible to MOD, I suppose it would be possible to choose how deep the sky would look)

Now, it is true that realism might be also something like that ;

Since I just don't understand how to MOD this SIM, I can't do it myself Sad Sad

Because, apparently, you have to have some kind of binary converter to be able to address the text-like mods to the game engine ?

Since I'm kinda new in this marvelous site,
I did not follow the 'HOW TO MOD' part of the adventure... Sad

So, I guess I will have to wait to see such MOD... Sad

I have the same feelings as the OP. Dark blue sky would be awesome.
I will try to look. Hopefully it is only a texture colour.
But I bet it is something that automatically changes the colour every time we change our height.

Yeah the HUE of the high blue sky (to me anyway) seems a bit off: too much toward a shade of purple where I think it should be more indigo.

If I knew how and had the time-- but I'd be lying if I said I had either Sad

I agree with U Stratodog,

My idea was not really to have an EXAGERATED dark sky...
(I have read the other post about unrealistic DARK SKY in altitude)

The idea here, is to have a bit more DEGRADED light rather than uniform...

Because, in my humble opinion, the horizon should be 'A BIT' brighter than the area just above...

For the moment in the game, I don't really see a progression of light at a given (low) altitude and it looks (to me) too UNIFORM PALE BLUE...

But I certainly would not wish a completely dark sky at 30 000 ft when in real life it is still blue..

I just miss this 'BRIGHT' horizon against a more 'A BIT DARKER' deep blue sky

(I also fly in real life)

But since OLEG said it was game engine limitation, I suppose it is hard codded,
so I will continue to cyber-fly with this marvelous-AAA-Modded Flight Sim...

No change in the sky before a loooooong time I guess Cry

dapits,

Sorry to hear that, a nice light gradient, as you described would be a good thing.

I wouldn't write off the idea just because Oleg said it couldn't be done. This site is testament to people who have proven him wrong repeatedly.
Give it some time. I'm sure someone'll find a fix... 8)
