What about US "Luft-46"
#31

sorry if it sounded arrogant but I googled the X planes listed at the top of the thread and reading the test results they didn't seem to be impressive designs even if they lacked the right engine. Apart from the B-42 they seemed to me to be not very good. The canard one seemed teh most promising out of the fighters but the last two didn't work.

At least they did fly, unlike the Luft 46 aircraft. Who says that they would of been any better? My point is simple, all nations had a lot of interesting aircraft designs, but only the Luftwaffe ones get any attention.

P.s. The B-35 had some VERY impressive performance specs.

The same for the YB_35 which looks the same as the Horton Ho 229 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_YB-35. Can you c the patteren here? Im no expert on experimental aircraft but i tend to lean on the germans for inventing advanced technology purely because history regarding americans and their distortion of the truth (i aint arf goin to stir up the bees nest here!) is quite well known . Ask an american about the Parkard Merlin.. Also take for example a recent film " U571" which caused great offense over here in blighty.

my two cents worth on american "wonder" technology.

The biggest problem with your entire post, is that the US stuff was designed AND flew first. So its more likley that the Germans copied the US, then the US copied the Germans. Im not saying thats what happened, just that its not possible to copy the Germans when you do it first.

I think one thing needs to be kept in mind about a lot of the US vs Luft 40 planes. Most of the Luft46 planes that have been requested or are being worked on existed only as proposals, engineering studies and drawings. Most of the US46 planes that have been requested or are being worked on made it to the prototype stage or further. (in other words, they actually flew)

Personally, I'd rather see more work done on missing 39-45 planes or improving the planes we already have than spending a lot of time on some of the semi-fantasy stuff.

I disagree and we already have a lot of historical planes being worked on. There is already many simulation that only have many historical planes. I have said this before, IL-2 1946 is an opportunity to have both historical and alternative history together. So that is why we are discussing about alternative history in this thread.

Besides Majority of AAA modders are already working on historical planes while minor is working on alternative.

Chaoic out...

because you cant change worldTongue too many people love German planes thats why.People here will propably say that this is not nice in all cases etc ble ble ble but anyway we will still keep getting Garman UFO's instead of normal looking planes and anyway almost all these projects will stay in WIP its just wasting time but if people like so much of fun ,no problemTongue. You just started very difficoult topic.Im a Japanese planes enthusiast and trust me that im not feeling good when i still see WIP german UFOs.No way to stear somebody here but would be nice to keep thinking how to stick the existing holes in sim(all countries) later please do your UFO's.personally i think that AAA team should cut some of these wired things mabye than some people will start creating normal things and finish them in 100%.Cheers and leave it as it is.

Well, I disagree with you saying its a waste of time, from what i've seen its pretty possible to create alternative history planes around here. I disagree with you saying that we should cut these projects because many people are curious to see how these projects will turn out. I myself am very interested in these projects. And even if there are mostly German now, i cant wait for some US 1946 planes to be added. There are many possibilities in Chaoic's lists that he has made, and they are endless. So i agree with Chaoic that creating these "what if" German, US, UK, Japanese, or any other allied or axis, planes would be a great endeavor,

I'm not saying I think that all fantasy project should be "cut" or abandoned. I just wanted to state my preference so that anyone considering starting a project but isn't sure what to do knows that there are people out there that would like more historical stuff.

I'm still needing 3D help with the B-17s....hint, hint....if anyone's looking for a project....

Nothing that is seen through to completion is a waste of time and effort.

The problem is that we see so many projects started, but relatively very few of them finished due to different reasons including some such as lack of resources and/or time.

And every unfinished project is very much a waste of time and effort.

So maybe some coordination, to make a priority list where some more obvious holes in the historical set of planes (French and Italian types, Do-17, Lancaster, Ki-44 to name a few) are placed on top followed with all sorts of others all the way to completely imaginary machinery, so that instead of starting a gajillion of new projects most of which are 1946 UFO's those with the know-how would pull together and see that in case some of the highest priority projects get on hold or abandoned they could jump in and keep them alive.

In the meantime they can continue working on their own projects, and when the priority projects are all done other developers can assist them with the UFO's or whatever they're working on.
