the STD folder and game wont load
#1

first of all, i have the bubble top spit mkIXe, it doesn't have the STD folder in it. When i open the game, it works fine.

the problem is when i install the spit mkI or other planes, they have the STD folder. Whenever there is an STD folder in the MODS folder, my game wont load. It gets to 70 or so percent then shuts down. Now when i take the STD folder out, the game loads, but the aircraft wont show up in game.

How can i get my planes to work?

STD folder contain air.ini file ( list of all planes ) .... among other stuff

AC INSTALLER contain buttons file ( data for all planes)

if air.ini and buttons file don't match = CTD at 60%-70%

bubble top spit mkIXe isn't introducing new plane to the game so it doesn't require "STD" nor buttons file .

Spitfire MkI is a new plane so air.ini and buttons file must get updated , hence STD folder.

I assume you aren't using AAA UI's ( cos Spit is included there ) so this is what you need to do :

1 when installing Spitfire mod ( or any other new plane) make sure to allow installer to alter your air.ini ( dos prompt window pops up during installation and you need to press "1" to allow alteration )

* or alter your air.ini manually...

2 make sure that you have latest AC INSTALLER ( buttons file) ....during installation dos menu pops up so select proper sound mod/ mod activator version .

.... if this sounds too complicated than please do consider installing AAA UI v 1.1 ( latest AAA mega mod pack )

that is what im doing. i got the latest files for all of that. im using the sound mod 06. I can now get only one slot plane to work at a time. When i try to install more than one, the game again won't load at 60-70%. This is what im doing exactly.

1- install sound mod
2- install AC installer
3- auto install spit mkI, i let it change the air.ini file
4- try loading game and it works fine
5- auto install Fw-190A3 mod, again i let it change the air.ini file
6- try loading game and closes at 60-70%

Then, when i delete the A3 mod, the game still wont load. So i have to reinstall everything but the A3 mod above. Sorry for the trouble.

... strange , but

you didn't mention wrapper in your list ... it's rather essential if not using AAA UI's

one more thing though .... when installing AC INSTALLER v3.0 ( latest) are you choosing correct option for sfx6 ( prompt window menu)?

also , if you have any mod ( new plane) not from AAA it could result with CTD

yeah i installed the newest wrapper right after the sfx6. With the ac_installer, I chose the sfx6 option. All of my mods are AAA mods. If you could list the exact steps, maybe i could delete all the mods stuff and start over?

... well, here is correct procedure listed:

(The link is inoperative)

make sure to install latest AC INSTALLER though ...

all that i can think of next is to make sure your files aren't write protected ( properties of game folder) and that you have UAC disabled and running installers as administrator ( if on vista) .

I must admit that i didn't use sfx6 in my installations .... switched to AAA UI's right after sound mod 9.3 ... so if possible do get AAA UI 1.0 or 1.1 ( if not on dialup )
