Taking Sides
#1

In Il2, there's a major restriction to offline play and mission/campaign creation. It's that blue and red thing. At the moment, you can have only one or the other. Wouldn't it be great to have neutral-passive and neutral-aggressive sides available too? So you could assign countries to whatever side you needed?

So for instance if you stray across the Swiss or spanish border they attack you, regardless of your origin (as indeed incidents of this kind took place. One US P38 was shot down by a spanish He112 that got too close) or simply cannon-fodder to lose points over in a mad frenzy of aerial slaughter.

Its a major change - thats obvious - but one worth pursuing in my view. Yep, I know, it can't be done. They said that about new markings too.

Nothing is impossible, its just a matter of creative thinking, i know how to do it in one way that is more black and white(if u understand what i mean, or in il2 red and blue, there is no middle if u want to be the player, just Ai assigned Neutral used for Mission makers i think, those that already have put in new countries i really think know how to do it,

its not so hard, all is depending how advanced and historical correct u want it,
one new country, not so hard + gfx
one country whit squadrons?
then it starting to be hard, depending how many squadrons that country have+
squadron emblems + historical correct emblems.

so again, nothing is impossible Smile its a matter of time and creative thinking.

This is good idea. I have often tried setting up off-line scenarios in which for instance civilian transport planes are involved - say in landing at an airport/airbase that will be object of an attack or fly-over by combatants. Getting them in one piece on or off the tarmac safely is then the object.

There are enough civilian skins for transports such as the Ju-52 or C-47, but by having them assigned to either red or blue does make it hard for them to act as neutrals or for the opposing side to leave them be as neutrals.

I know that objects can often be assigned a 'none' meaning a neutral assignation.

It would be great to have that possible for aircraft in flight as well.

hold our horses?? sorry im not a experience mission maker and haven't try to add a unit as neutral, u say that u cant add neutral AI plane in the FMB, just units on the ground?.

exempl like this, a German fw190 cross the Swedish border 1944, at that time we had order to shot on it, to bring it to land. what i know that is impossible in the game,
but just to assign it as neutral like u do whit a unit maybe is possible or i want to say should be if the u can do it on a mobile ground unit , problem is just like u say, for the in-flight, but that is hard coded, so some experience modder needs to do that, hum good idea, but i stick to mine, blue and red.

sorry for my English hope u understand.

From what I can make out, only stationary, non-moving objects can be assigned 'none' or neutral status. As soon as the objects/units are moving, with waypoints, you can only assign them to red or blue.

It doesn't seem to matter if the stationary objects are planes, ships, ground units or whatever, as long as they are stationary, you can assign them a neutral status.

i cudent hold my hands from to experiment, but that was to deep water for me, i cant say its imposible,
it just seems its to much that needs to be changed and also its hard coded, we just can whit and see if some one expert maybe wants to give it a try, if u see it this way, u can add a normal plan as static plan and add that to be "neutral" so in my eyes someone should be able to do it, just need a new option added for Neutral.

main wile we just have to whit that some one adds neutral country to booth red and blue side,

bay the way, did any one say they wanted Swiss in to the game as neutral?
