New to IL2 crazy P47D

RRuger Wrote:Bout time you decided to say something here Tjen, 5 posts, dude! good to see you  Oh yeah, topic, P-47, great plane BTW...

Yep... I have to admit that I read alot... way!... more than I post. This is because I've put a lot of time in mastering the fighting tactics as much as possible. later I picked up the rewarding task to modify every enginesound I could possibly mod which took me over a year and still modding along 8) Lately I am becoming a regular visitor on AAA to start adding mods to my Il2 in order to boost gamepleasure due to the fact that some of the game features are getting a bit boring after many hours of playing time.

And I couldn't really resist to leave a comment concerning this topic as I rock my P47D almost every time I play online. But keep in mind to have a lot of patience in order to get at the right altitude and be ready to be able to cope with a lot of dissapointments in the beginning... climbing at high alt without getting your *ss shot during the climb is one time consuming thing, staying alive during your first engagement with this Jug is another!

But again, the P47 with it's 8 .50 cals does it all for me and with my latest soundmod of the huge P&W R2800 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkZYY2y24...annel_page makes even more brutal and gives you really a feeling like your flying a massive metal mean machine especially when you hit F3

Cheers!

I got and error on the Youtube link Tjen, I don't think it's is anything that has to do with you. Never mind, it works now. Hey are you still playing around with your R/C P-47 and how is that going? If you've got some pictures I would like to see them, maybe you can post some in the screenshots/photos section.

BTW, I sent you a PM about the guy to talk to here for your sound mod, happy, happy Wink

...not exactly Wink..I got quite a few "viermott" victories against the heavy's.....yes,I got my butt kicked a lot of times...but bombers did fall down in flames Smile

Well, take a look on http://www.youtube.com/anacinc there you can have a look at some video's I posted just to get a glimpse of what my mods are about. Still lost of work to do and a fresh mod for the P47 is on the way!

Anyway, The R/C P47 project has been posponed due to some other priorities that has to be dealt with first.
I don't know if AAA moderators allow me to post pics of a R/C P47 on a subforum on AAA bacause it probably won't have anything to do with IL2 but you can check the latest steps in this project on

But this is way off topic... 8)

Hell yeah they will, there are all kinds of pictures in there that aren't IL2. Tjen, you have to skeak with Fly_zo about putting up your sounds, they are the best that I've heard. I can't imagine playing without them and I don't think I would. The sounds for the Merlins is very, very accurate to me, better than any that I've heard. Zo will be here and I would encourage him to listen to them. It's not that they just sound good outside the planes, they sound as good from the inside as well. I know this is a little OT for this thread but everyone needs to give these sounds a listen...

.... ok , here it goes

for new sounds , please compile mod out of them .... upload it to some filehost server and start thread in beta download section ( basic info + d/l link + install instructions ) . When passed beta stage ( feedback...) submit your mod to MrJolly ( PM = d/l link + info) and you will receive AAA d/l link + posting instruction when mod pass checking .

as for non IL2 projects goes , please use spray and pray section .... if non commercial

looking forward to try your sounds ....

I don't know where you got that from. I've never heard of it, doesn't sound right.

I love the P-47 because she is a brain plane. Most Spit and 109 pilots more use their joystick instead of their brain. To the german pilots in the trainings I always say you need a little bit more than a german identity card and a Bf109 G-2 to be a fighter ace.

Like the Fw-190 the P47 can be used as a fighter bomber or as an energy fighter. Over 6000m the P47 gets more and more advantages. Yesterday I went on the Spit vs 109 mod server with my 190 A-3. There were many B-17 over the channel and they wanted to attack Dieppe. So I made much altitude and I reached 6500m. In the middle of the channel there were so many white stripes. A p-38 swarm and some P-47. I wanted to creep to the B-17 but the p-38s saw me. I had to go down and with a little bit frustration I climbed again into high alitude. The B-17 were gone, the P-38 were gone too. Over beachy head I saw a single white stripe. It was a p-47. I was in 7000m and he was in round about 8000m. He came to me with an energy+. I made a gentle right turn flying away from him and when he came into the turn I rolled into a quick hard turn loosing a bit energy. Caused by the high G my view blurred a little bit. The P-47 did not follow me. To I rolled back to the left and I was behind him. But this Pilot was no beginner. You can see this very quick in the movements of a plane. He went into the sun. I could not follow him but I tried to get as much altitude as I could. We nearly stalled at the same time and he was a little bit higher. I made a hammerhead and he came back to me but he could not make an attack because he was unable to pull the rudders sharp enough. Now I was behind him again but i still had not enough energy. This DF went some minutes. Most of it was flown between 7000m and 6000m. I went out of this DF with a long dive into he clouds when I saw 2 p38 over us.

As FW pilots we always respect those guys in their p47 because they are deadly with an energy+. While some Spit Ix pilots were whining in the chat. The p-47 guys went into high altitude and they closed the channel for german figher planes. The B-17 could go to their targets and made their job. When you see a P-47 in high altitude you absolutly know that his is her district.

yes you have to be patient with p-47 to reach alt, where the plane becomes most effective and highly dangerous

The P-47 is my favorite plane. I've found a lot of success with it, even at lower altitudes, it just takes a bit of practice and patience. Its certainly not a plane you can just take off right into the fight.

If you are going into spins then you are using too much stick in the turns, but one thing that can help stabilize your turns is the use of combat flaps. Just keep in mind that they bleed a bit of energy so use the combat flaps like you might training wheels, until you get a feel for the stick forces. I like to keep that plane above 500kph or 300mph indicated, and utilize the zoom climb for various reversal maneuvers when countering enemy attackers.
Hopefully, you will reach the day when everything clicks, and see exactly how powerful that plane is.

Many, many Thunderbolt pilots? That doesn't sound right to me. I certainly haven't heard of any death toll from this activity. Why were P47's fighting mock dogfights against Spitfires when they should have been fighting real ones over Europe? In cases where mock fights are documented, they almost always occur between pilots of the same squadron.

This is true, when they first got the P-47 C models they were taken out to see how they faired against the Spitfire. It was really training and another way for the pilots to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the new bird.

It is wrong to say that the crashes were caused when the P-47 went out of control, because the reality is that big plane was more difficult to put into a spin and had a very comfortable stall warning before any severe loss of control was encountered. It could not follow the spitfire in tighter slow turns, but it could out roll it and was much faster in the dives. The speeds reached in the P-47 dives had not yet been attained by other aircraft, so in a lot of ways, pilots really didn't know any better, and a handful of planes crashed because they were not able to pull up in time. The minimum altitude for such mock dogfights was raised to 8,000ft, and such accidents were avoided.
