[VIDEO] P38J Duxford airshow -- AAA exclusive wmv download
#1

I made this originally in 1993 and just digitized it today. I hope this will inspire JAMF to complete the P38 cockpit mod! Vid quality is a bit dodgy but the sound is worth the 66MB. Enjoy!

Was a sad loss, both that aircraft and the pilot "Hoof" Proudfoot right in front of our eyes. Cry

Duxford looks like Warbird Heaven, tried to get tickets last year but Andrews coaches said not enough people are booking to warrant a trip! Anyway just booked tickets for RAF Waddington on the 4th July, usually a good day, plenty of stalls unlike Farnborough were you have to have a couple of mill in the bank to purchase air to air missiles! Cool video, nice one. Sorry Farnborough does sell something else, hotdogs n burgers for

Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the... e-e-e-e-edge... Wink

Thx for the vid, it's great. I got some goose bumps. Smile You're lucky you were there back then, because today it's hard to get good sound on the camera for those 2 guys going on-and-on-and-on over the PA system. I went in 2007, because I bought tickets when Glacier Girl was supposed to come over. Sadly "Operation Bolero II" was scrubbed. Weather was brilliant though, as one can see from the shots on my Flickr page.

Operation Bolero III is doubtful, due to radiator trouble. Sad

Maybe in 2010 I will be able to donate my left nut, if GG makes it across and sells seat time for donations. Big Grin

Who am I to push? Took me 16 years to get this video uploaded. Tongue

Glad you enjoyed it. Doubt we will ever be able to watch them flown like that again.

Really enjoyed that video, and I hope to do the same at Camarillo this year when they should have two flying together.

I TOTALLY agree about commentators. I love to hear the sound of the plane and the engines, it's why I go to an airshow.

What you normally get is "okay, here comes the P-51/47/38, roaring into the flight area from the distance, if you listen carefully you'll hear the roar of the rdial/in-line engine as it approaches. The sound is made from the powerful engines as the pilot increases the throttle and the noise comes out of the exhausts, it's the sound that hundreds of civilians heard during WW2 and was also the sound that the enemy ground crews would hear as they approached on low-level fighter sweeps. And there they go, didn't the engines sound brilliant?!!!"

I DON'T ******G know, you talked all over them!!!

If there was an airshow where they said, "and next we have the P-51 Mustang arriving in just 1-minutes time......enjoy the sound and I'll be quiet until it/they depart", I'd pay double the price!

Cheers, MP.
