How Do I Change A RGB to Index Color
#1

Without loosing the detail? :-?

Hello again, I was searching for this on google for a long time and didn't find anything so I will ask here. I use the blur tool on the skins I make quite alot and when I change the picture mode to index that blur becomes very... ugly? The game doesn't recognize skins that are in RGB mode and the only way to save a bit of the effect on the skin is by using diffusion but then the picture looks like its made out of sand, which is kinda weird, especially on bare metal skins.

Here are a few pictures:

The first one is normal RGB that is ready to be saved:

This one is already changed to index but without the use of diffusion, you may notice darker spots where there is a smudge on the normal one:

This one is in index aswell but with the use of diffusion, notice the dots where the blur is:

Does anyone know how to make it nice and clean? :???:

Note:
I'm using GIMP 2.6 and PhotoFiltre, the pictures above are converted to index with PhotoFiltre, GIMP may have done it a bit nicer but still not good enough.

We use Britght to convert them.

Save your skin as a normal 24bit RGB then run it through bright and it changes it with minimal loss of color to an 8bit indexed skin.
