Official 4.09 Coming soon

It's silly, in my opinion, that 1C refuses to recognize all the AAA MODders for having saved his IL2 series....throughout 2008-2009 at least, while he dedicated his efforts to other profit-making Games and to SOW:BOB development. This 4.09 patch should have been finalized hand-in-hand with the AAA (UI) MODders...

A smattering of new Eastern front and Italian and Czech planes, and some minor tweaks here and there such as of the QMB, will not induce me to delete all the wonderful AAA-hosted MODs. imho

You have a point there Bear. Besides Oleg didn't approach modders. Team Daidalos approached Oleg with this issue and most of the team members are old 3rd party developpers who had already done planes & other content for the previous patches/releases. So in a sense we only tried to continue the old 3rd party dev thing while keeping MG's workload at minimum.

Also I can't see how the nice little hand-in-hand thing with the AAA could have been possible with the "Old AAA". Single post about another team and result would be quick delete & ban. Some of Team Daidalos members were cast out from AAA. I myself was banned until very recently.

However now like the interview said, Team Daidalos is seeking co-operation with any mod makers to include quality work in something that will follow 4.09.

Pretty good news. If they are going to be releasing more than just this upcoming patch if I may make a request how about the autopilot and the bombsights working together like they did in real life. It would be a nice immersion addition when flying bombers.

Any idea about the prize of this patch?

i might give it a prize of a silver star.

the trigggers and AI behavior have me curious. Noted in the video was a finger four takeoff by AI and the 109's all landing at once. i'll have to see how this will effect the Slot and the NGNB maps. i don't want b-24's taking off and landing that way. it would be a pain to go back and edit 30+ airfields x 6 maps (4 maps for NGNB).

It's up to mission builders to decide which type of landing/takeoff will AI perform. Old style missions should not be affected.
EDIT: But that's all in the future. It's not part of 4.09.

I find this interesting reguarding the name Daidalos, for those not up on Greek Mythology like I am:

In Greek mythology, Daedalus (Latin, also Hellenized Latin Daedalos, Greek Daidalos meaning "cunning worker", and Etruscan Taitle) was a most skillful artificer, or craftsman, so skillful that he was said to have invented images that seemed to move about.[1] Daedalus had two sons: Icarus and Iapyx, along with a nephew, whose name varies. He is first mentioned by Homer as the creator of a wide dancing-ground for Ariadne [2]. The Labyrinth on Crete in which the Minotaur (part man, part bull) was kept, was also created by the artificer Daedalus. The story of the labyrinth is told where Theseus is challenged to kill the Minotaur, finding his way with the help of Ariadne's thread.

[note takin from Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daedalus]

Pretty cool.

Great work, Team Daidalos and Oleg!

Still amazing how long this sim has lasted and keeps getting improvement since 2001 (how many versions have Microsoft Flight sim been though, that we had to pay $$ for.)

So MOD material will work with this new patch as well as it does currently? If my Spit 14 installation becomes twitchy with this new patch then the patch will go before the 14 does. Outstanding work by Team Daidelus but I hope there is an effort to integrate AAA MODs.

Being a mission builder i am more interested in those aspects than the new planes and train....

When FMB+ was produced and we learned that this 'unlocked' a previously possible but unopened ability to select and move a group of objects....some veteran mission builders were annoyed that this had only just been made available.
Now...after years of asking and being told by oleg that triggers were impossible...someone has made them possible Confusedhock:
We know that the impossible has happened here at AAA quite a few times with effects and maps etc.
Now after all these years this is being made possible....it is nice to hear...but irritating too....to think of all the lost time..
Don't people realise...when admiring yet another new plane...or new cockpit....or even new map....that they are all useless without good missions to fly....and lack of triggers has been one of the greatest failings of the FMB and missions for il2....
Since Pacific-fighters brought new warships....they have been able to set a 'sleep' function for their guns......and AA guns have a 'circle of activity' outside of which they ignore and then 'wake-up' when entered...
ARE THESE NOT TRIGGERS?

I believe the mods will not be compatible with the new 4.09......which may be installed upon the 4.09beta patch...because the objects will not need to be reinstalled. Maybe some clever modder will be able to crack the new one quite quickly and allow the mods to work again....I hope so.

What if the 4.09 patch will make it impossible to work with MODs? (I'm just guessing, I don't know anything about oding and stuff)
Also, I'm perfectly happy with my modded il2 now, and I don't think I'll dare to risk it for a new patch.

Don't understimate the power of the dark side. Everything can be broken/hacked.

But the only MOD that is really needed to put in official patch is the 6DOF.

As stated in the interview, the patch will not prevent mods to work.
