For those of you who are interested in learning IL2 maps.
Once you have successfully loaded them in to the game
Example map folder South_VietNam all.ini South_VietNam South_VietNam/load.ini
From Kevin P's map building tutorial follow his instructions from a successful loading obviously towards the end of the tutorial in the game and then move on to his texture tutrorial.
More coming on Sunday.
Let me know if you think infinity is a problem or not. Not sure how to rectify this with great land masses.

If I'm going to have a go at this (and I'm not sure that I'll succeed) I think it's probably best to cut your teeth on a map that isn't huge. :?
So which one of these are the smallest, and which ones are really big?
Awsome Ceylon!
I cant wait to get that map!
An Argentinean pilot flew Hellcats of the Royal Navy (HMS Khedive) there and performed ground attack missions against the japanese. The map its gonna be a blast!
Cheers!
Hi There are any of you having problems in viewing my specific myfiles page with medifire?
one or two people are
If I put up a seperate download page for each map it is still medifire.com/myfiles.php for every page.
It is my account and it should say kjdale at the top on the right.
If you do not see that please let me know.
I normally use 4shared .com but that can be slow for up and downloading. 4shared.com had it's own seperate main file home page.

Kirby, The link you gave is not directed to your "MY Files" page. Just go to that page and copy that link and give it to us.
I don't think I'm interested in the China map, sorry. It's too intimidating for me.
However, I might be interested in a Caucasus or Moravia (czech Republic) maps.
Did you say you are starting a collection of "starter maps" for the community to download?

Links work now. Thanks for sharing your work with us. Making those starter maps are the most difficult for me. Using dial-up internet at home it's too slow for all the big files. I occasionally use a friend's high-speed net to download large files.
Populating and texturing a map is really the easiest BUT most time consuming operation.
Poltava, just jump right in on a small map and try it out. If you're a creative type person (which I know you are from your mission building skills) then you'll really enjoy it. And you get satisfaction from others who enjoy your work as well. A small map like Timor or some other island or jungle type place would be easy to populate and texture. There are relatively few towns/villages and it's mostly rural jungle area.

Well, I think from memmory that South Viet Nam ,Ceylon and Timor are reasonably small maps.
The rest are big but as C.Texan says there is a lot of jungle in Borneo and it is not as populated as some of the other maps like Shanghai and Nanking.
Play around and enjoy.
Just follow Kevin P's instructions from upon a successful loading of the map in game from his Map Building Tutorial.
The first instruction I recall is going around and checking the coast line to see if the coast align tool has missed anything.

I mainly thought of you when I did that map.
The surrounding islands of Timor really do have some wicked detailed volcanoes.
I read recently on pacificwrecks about the three month fighting with the Japanese.
That is why I also did Borneo wasn't there a huge Australian push there just towards the end of the war?
