Gliders
#1

Working on a campaign for some time now, and I'm at the point where I need to build a mission including gliders. First time I've done this (though I've built a lot of missions, so I know the FMB fairly well), so there are inevitably a few questions.

My first choice for tow planes were Ju-52s, but the gliders explode immediately when these are chosen. This is not helpful, and sort of rules out the Ju-52. (Seems like something a quick MOD could resolve, but I digress....)

Next was the He-111. Works, but here's the rub - I've got flights of three planes towing flights of three gliders, and the He-111 seems to be capable of towing two gliders, so I end up with one plane with two, one with one, and one with none. The gliders also tend to accordion on their cables at the beginning of the mission and fly into each other. Also not helpful.

Before I take further steps toward insanity, can someone advise a German type that will tow one, and only one, glider? Additionally, is there some trick to keeping the gliders from flying into each other? Worst case, I suppose I could just build a ton of single plane flights with single gliders in tow, but that seems clunky and inelegant.

Thanks for any advice you might be able to offer.

A He 111Z will tow one Me-321 I think.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm dealing with the G-11 (masquerading as a DFS230).

Well, the He-111 can tow one glider - I had the wierd experience of actually flying in the glider! That was during a mission from the "JG54 1942 Summer/Fall" campaign, I guess I messed up the ranks when starting the campaign, as according to the briefing I should have been piloting the -111. Instead I ended up in the glider... Big Grin

In that mission there was one He-111 with one glider, escorted by two 109s. I guess it's possible, depending on how you set flights.
