My "TrackIR" for less than $1 (really)
#1

So...I made TrackIR replica for less than a dollar, assuming about everyone already has the required materials. Which are:

-A developed single strip of film (yes, film, remember that stuff?)
-A webcam (Possible without the IR sensor, hence the film)
-A hat, and a IR mouse from another computer or spare (failry cheap now if you don't happen to have an extra)
-Freetrack (as some of you know already)

Here's a video. Sorry for teh awkward tone, it's just weird talking to..well no one but a camera.
:?

What's the difference between this and the other topics? I wasn't about to go out for that "complicated" stuff and blow some serious cash on the real deal. This is for non-computer wizes like myself. It works fine. Gets the job done right, and makes the sim experience a bit more enjoyable.

Instead of film
you can use a floppy disk

Ah, thanks for adding that. I was wondering what other materials you could use for this task.

Are you using the brown part of the film, or the end. Cause I have a bit here, and its far to dark to let any thing through...

I am using the end. The trick to that is that it will ONLY let red light through for the most part, something film always does.

As for the remote, no idea. You could try it, I had no idea my camera would also work when recording. (OR filter on the end to sense light for the flash)
