If you use the forgotten countries mod you can do just that.

Another fix is to give the planes no markings, designate the [different] country under properties, and lastly designate a stock or a mod skin. This way you can have any country listed fly ANY plane with skins available. This is the easiest fix to have Allies vs Allies or Axis vs Axis, but it is limited to what is in your folders.

I made a mission for an offline IL-2 friend set in the final months of WW2 in which the U.S. was fighting a few German planes and a rouge U.S. General attacked the Russians and then it blow up into WW3! My friend was caught by surprise and it really blew his mind that some U.S. planes went out to attack the Russians and they began fighting each other. :lol: I love to put surprises in missions, don't you?
