[Question] How di I work with the map_h in the FMB?
#1

This questions comes very late because my Northsea map is very flat

I know that I can find something called:

Object --> Type --> Height

Fill
peek
Blur

But I do not know how to use them.

I have the map_c in the folder

D:\UI1.1.1 ONLINE\Maps\Wag_Nordsee

I can work with map_c in photoshop but this is very stressing because you always have to reload Il-2.

Select Height>Peek or whatever then, in 3D mode, click on the map. You will get a little red and white dot doodah that shows where the cursor is positioned. Move it about the map, using the mouse, to position it, then use the mouse scroll wheel to move it up and down which changes the height.
I've never figured out what the difference between Fill, Peek and Blur are. They sound obvious but I can't see any change so I leave it on Peek.

Select Objects/Height/Peek
Zoom in, very near
Hit Enter into the 3D view
You will see a pin. This is sitting on a crossing of the maps net. Right mouse hold down and moving the mouse (Not so shy!) will let it jump to the next knot.
Scroll mousewheel to lower/heighten the selected knot.

To change more than one knot of the map hit Enter again to get the normal view
Right mouse click. Select Fill Tile Size to select the numbers of knots.

Peek/Fill/Blur:
Peek changes all knots at the same amount.
Fill sets all knots to the same height (Very nice for ironing airports)
Blur ... well, it blurs the knots height ... :-) (Something like smoothing)

Fill and blur are working only if a Tile Size of at least three is selected.

I don't remember if there is a spezial entry in the config needed but don' t think so.

You can work small areas using the method zip points out, but for larger areas, use Clockwatcher's method with microdem and the SRTM data.

Works wonderfull. Thanks for your help. Yes I first wokrd with the stream data but here and there you have to work manually in the map itself.
