Info about new planes in UI 1.2?
#1

Can anyone provide some information about the Bf-109 and P-51 variants that came with UI 1.2? I couldn't find much anywhere. In what way are they different from the variants already in the game?

Differences is for them bf109 differents engines and especially different armament... More choices for weapons and possibility of choosing reconnaissance plane.
Version of bf109
The family of BF109 is very big with one multitude of motor different, with implements of ultra power different, of weapon of edge and emport different.... :???:

Well, the new P-51s can carry really diverse ordnances and (probably) have more powerful engines. The Bf-109 E-1 has now two MGs in the wings, not oerlikons. But you know people... they want hundreds of 109s, FWs, spitfires, mustangs and jugs, while a lot of other aircraft are almost forgotten.

As I compiled the 109 pack, here's a quick rundown (haven't included Emils or Fredrichs, as they have been available for a while):

G-2 trop: Trop filter equiped, DB-605 engine restricted to 1.3ata, extensive loadout of SC & AB bombs, MG151/20 gunpods, droptanks and combinations (same for G-4s)
G-4: Similar to default G-2, Db-605 engine at full 1.43ata, equipped with different radio unit, same undercarriage as G-6, slightly heavier than G-2 but performance is very similar
G-4 trop: As above but with DB-605 engine restricted to 1.42ata
G-6 trop: As per G-4 trop, but equipped with 2x MG131s instead of 2x MG17. Slower and less manouverable due to drag-inducing bulges, also much heavier than the G-2
G-6 Erla: Equipped with DB-605 1.42ata unrestricted, Erla haube, short tail. Corrected FM (no longer performs like the doggish default G-6). Can carry a mixture of MK108 motorkannone, gunpods, SC bombs, AB bombs, WrGfr21 rockets and droptanks. No MG131s recon option too
G-6 Tall Tail: Similar to Erla, but old style canopy and tall wooden tail. Same loadout options. Slightly slower due to weight of tail and counterbalances
G-6/AS (new slot): G-6 equipped with DB-605AS engine rated 1400hp @ 1.42ata (NOTE: No MW-50, which was not historically available on this machine). Good high altitude performance, though shocking low level. Same loadout selection as per other G-6s.
G-14 Early: Late war G-6 variant equipped with DB-605AM engine equipped with MW-50 injection to give excellent mid-level performance. Identical in appearance to a G-6 late, though slightly heavier due to MW-50 system and additional armour plating. Same loadout as G-6 without recon armament.
G-14AS: G-14 equipped with DB-605ASM engine with MW-50 injection and enlarged supercharger, giving excellent performance across all levels. Features enlarged cowling to cover supercharge and MGs. Same loadout as G-14 early
G-10 Erla: First production G-10 made at the Erla factory. Equipped with DB-605DB engine and featuring unique 'Erla' cowling, small wing bulges and extended tailwheel. Same loadout as G-6s. Same FM as default G-10
G-10C3: Represents WNF production G-10 equipped with DB-605DC engine, running on higher octane C3 synthetic fuel, producing a significant performance boost over standard G-10s. Same loadout as G-10 Erla
K-6: Rare late-war variant produced in tiny numbers. DB-605DC engine, armed with 1x MK 108 motorkanone, 2x MG131s in cowling and 2x MG151/20s in wing, plus further options. Performs worse than K-4C3 due to added weight and change in wing loading.

Performance wise (overall), this is how they rate (best to worst):

G-10C3 > G-10 > K-6 > G-14AS > G-14 > G-4 > G-6 Erla > G-6 Tall tail > G-2 trop > G-4 trop > G-6 trop > G-6AS

Note that the G-6AS does greatly improve at high altitude when the supercharge kicks in but at mid to low altitude is at a great disadvantage thanks to it's power to weight ratio. Also when the K-6 is not armed with the wing mounted guns, its performance is on par with the G-10C3.

Sorry I don't have any hard stats on turn time etc. I do have IL-2 compare with all of this, but I don't have access to it right now. Hope that helps Smile
