I just dropped my jaw in awe after seeing this. I can really wait for this and test this with new incoming gaming computer I will be making this December. This is going to be quite stunning rides for sure! However, I want to comment on ONE thing though. For some of reasons, the ground and tree look a little like cartoony but maybe thats me? But thewater, objects, aircraft, and cockpit look very amazing! SOW team must have been working very hard on this simulation and I am very glad they have been taking more times to work on this games instead of rushing it. It is like a cake being baked, you can never rush cake being baked and you must take your time to bake them if you want a best tasting cake.

As far as the scenary goes, I agree. In fact, it doesn't look like much of an improvement over the il-2 we are playing now.

... am i the only one who finds land and map a tad cartoonish like it is from Far Cry 1 or something

i mean cockpit/plane and objects look fantastically real and rather stick up from map graphic .

Hopefully that is only working map version so final one would look as good as planes and objects do

thanks for posting though

It was stated by Oleg that these shots were not the finished product, and terrain and lighting would be looked at as he recognises how important they need to be in getting it right.. as he is into photography in a big way.

Quoted from Oleg's post on 1C forum (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.p ... stcount=14)

"We're working hard on finding the perfect visual balance, and many of the colors you see today are not final: sky, clouds, grass, trees, water, etc, are all being finetuned. As some of you may know, I'm a professional photographer as well, so perfect visual presentation is a very important goal for me."

Also see new dedicated discussion thread where member of development team is replying to comments, and note that Oleg will apparently be viewing and responding to comments at a later date:

A quote from the member of the development team i mentioned in previous post:

"Regarding the colors, read Oleg's post please. That's one of the primary areas we're working on right now.

In a next-gen sim like BoB, changing colors everywhere is not very easy. It's not just going into a texture and playing with hue - saturation. There's a complex lighting model in the engine that takes the environment and colors it with the sunlight passing through the atmosphere, which in turn is effected by the weather, time of day, altitude, etc. It's a complex system with lots of variables. To give you a rough example, if you just take the grass texture and make it greener, it may look good at noon from 1000 feet on a clear day, but it'll look horrible at dusk from 10,000 in a fog, etc.

So we're still fine-tuning the in-game lighting, but rest assured most of us own a good pair of eyes, and we're well aware of the direction this needs to go."

So, seems like we can rest easy.

Also note that they have apparently switched from Open GL!!

Like you I really hope I won't have to change my rig, but keep in mind that you can take a screenie with everything maxed out and ....3fps in game ....

Another thing is it looks like Open GL will be abandoned ....
