Well yes, this would be logical if both the MkIX model and the MkVIII model were of the same quality, but the MkVIII model is very much superior to the MkIX model, it is more accurate, more detailed and the surface mapping is much easier to work with for skinners. Bringing the MkIX model up to the standards of the MkVIII model would take a great deal of work, and I was just thinking that it would be easier to start with the MkVIII model and convert it into a MkIX, and then turn this into a MkXVI.
Hi mate!
You have your point of wiew but if I remember right above there is a similar post and the reply is that the author know what he's doing so I think that the better way is to support him with our post , let him do it and...let comments for after the release!

PS - Remember that if he start from the IX this doesn't mean that he can't take better pieces from other Spit....

Fair enough the Mk VIII model is better, but the work has already been finished on the Mk XVI. It's a bit hard to undo it all and start again. Anyway, you won't be disappointed with the effort (and if you are, you're welcome to make a XVI from the Mk VIII models).
VH only started learning 3D Studio Max a few months ago and I believe he has done a splendid job so far.

Yes, I suppose you are right, and the new canopy itself looks fantastic, so please don't think I am questioning VH-Rock's ability to model this aircraft.
Really, the only reason why I was a little dispointed when I first saw the mod was based on the MkIX was that I had decided, not long before I saw this, that I would try to model the MkXVI myself, and that I would use the MkVIII as a starting point. Since this mod is so far along now, it would be rather pointless for me to try to make the same plane, so maybe I will start with trying to build a Spitfire Mk21 instead.
Also, if VH is going to improve the MkIX model (for the high back MkXVI version) and the new bubble top MkXVI then much good could come from this because it would be possible to apply the improvements across the MkIX family as a visual upgrade which would be very welcome indeed.
Dear mate!
I haven't thought that you're questioning absolutely!
My greatest apologize if I hurt you!
I'm only trying to pursuit and imagine the VH argument about the development of the mod!
Sice your future work , what about an MK XVIII before the MK 21?
The MK XVIII is between them , have the same shape of the MK XIV but is a bit longer (+/- 24 cm) have stronger fuselage , gear and wing and have 2x150 fuel tank in the aft fuselage too!
The MK 21 is like the MK XVIII with new engine and new modified wings plan!
It can be an useful step for shape modding and class file understanding too!!

Actually, it should be spot on since the XVIe was a IXe with a bubble canopy and an American built engine...
