For those who allready have Okinawa repainted V1 you will notice you allready have a "redko_tex" file somewhere in _Tex/land/summer.....it's a mistake and will be fixed for Okinawa V2. Don't touch it there will be no problem for the moment as the load.ini file take it in charge. BUT for Iwo Jima i used the correct path, so put your new "redko_tex file" exactly as indicated on readmefile, in _Tex folder. this is the proper path !

Ok as requested by some people here now you have a link for the "test mission" you see on my pics. This was created in order to show a quick reconstitution of th battle of Iwo Jima...quick is the important word : there is just the navy shooting, landing ships approaching, japanese AAA defending. Take this as an hollywood production and NOT as an real mission.

Good PC needed people !!! Only far ships are shooting but it gives the feeling that the whole fleet is doing so....of course the pc able to make it work with a real entire fleet shooting doesn't exist now .

The good point is that you have a MASSIVE fleet....and that's just crazy to fly over it !!!!!. So feel free to improve all this....we are waiting for Jaypack skins

As I have little problems to retexturing some maps with big actor static (i'm learning how to do that...) i retake some other projects with smaller maps.


This is still under way....it's really really far away even from a "beta" version.... :roll: This is a little island with a great and tragical history... but so hard to find the good textures, the good level of resolution for a so small place, the good colours. If there is a maps here you don't have the right to fail, it is this one. So many people killed.

Can't understand why the stock map was so bad. I will try and i was dreaming for a while to do something for this map but i'm really not shure i will have a good result. :roll: :roll: . So anyway who never try never succed.

First pics. It's not what people imagine when asked about Iwo Jima as everybody imagine it as a dark grey world.

I would be damn happy with the "beta" version in your pics. The stock ingame Iwo map
is one of the poorest , hope you release a beta soon. :thumbsup:

It looks verry good exept for the mountain sticking up that looks cartoonish
Here i think you have to change the textures for the moutain.
Google earth where you can go down and look at the mountain in profile might be away to see how it looks at eye hight and not from birds wiuev??

I think you should lighten Mount Suribachi up a little it's not really that black and maybe cut down on the vegetation a little. Iwo is actually only that green at certain times of the year spring and after about two weeks of rain in the summer time.in the 40's there were no watering systems there, it's was actually a pretty dry place.Actually If you could make it look like that first picture looking down on it from the top in all views and maybe cut down on the green vegetation a bit, I think you'd have it dicked man.

Are you trying to make the island more green with more vegetation?
Wouldn't most of the vegetation have been blown up by the bombardment and shelling?
I would also think that all trees would have been cut down by the Japanese to use for their hundreds of bunkers and fortifications.

Thanks for your work Redko, Iwo Jima really needs new textures.

Another map that needs to be retextured is Chichi Jima. It's certainly the worst looking map in the game, even worse than Iwo Jima.

Really not bad at all ! As others mentionned, maybe cut down on the vegetation a bit, other than that it's very good ! might need a new map T though...

Looking great so far! One thing to remember though, the airfields are part of the original textures- are you planning on adding them to your textures, or just leaving them? Also, I know it might be asking too much, but are you planning on adding the black sand beaches? I feel like that's a really big part of what people think of when they hear Iwo Jima. But, as you said, it's not even beta status yet, and if it's anything like the Okinawa map, I know we won't be disappointed! keep up the good work
