I'm sorry, but for the time being some perfectly good tracer-mods exist: the most realistic you can really get IMHO. The game engine is limited, and so 3D-tracer for all guns is just not possible in order for it to look good.

I have told you what to seach for : 'vas curling' tracer or something like that.

Those are cinematic pictures from arcade games , these are not necessarily representing
real effects and should not be used to compare smoketrail effects with real life WWII effects .

LOL, my opinons exactly. We are aiming for realism in this game; hollywood effects look pretty, but I much prefer realism 8)

whats IMHO? p.s have you seen the tracer smoke trails fom heroes over europe ( not the tracer itself but the straight line trails that come underneath would be lovely to have those

we hear ya but it is like me going in to original release 2004 Far Cry forum crying about not having Crysis looking
effects and why don't they do such a thing :wink:
IL-2 1946 is pretty much 2001 game engine and a lot of things are simply not gonna happen :lol:
It's game engine using OpenGL early 1.1 version rendering and while guys are from time to time able to pull out
some new effects by working with editing class files , it won't change the fact how graphics are rendered and
what we can expect from it .
Already as it is right now in 2010 , it is still an amazing simulator with nice graphics and current visual effects 8)
