Questions concerning the modders , mods, and internet safety
#1

Hello! I have only been a member of AAA for several months, and in that time period, I have witnessed the great modding work that goes on behind the blog. Seeing how much praise you folks get for all your stuff you guys put out on the site makes me want to download it and experience the epicness of IL-2.
However, I have been unable to download so since my computer has been under recent rebaselining and repair from certain issues, which is almost done. Once IL-2 is reinstalled, I hope to enrich it with these mods you guys have going on.
What I (and my parents; I haven't yet left the nest, I'm only 15) want to know is that if the AAA site is trustworthy enough not to plague our fresh, new, hardworking machine with cookies and viruses.

The questions are:
Do you all do this for a living, or is it a hobby?
Do we need to worry about any malicious intent?
Are all the modders above the age of 20? (Because a lot of teenage programmers are proven to become future hackers)

This is for the safety and well being of our family and the guarantee of no more headaches for Dad.

Thanks for your time!

AAA is safe site. I've been member and downloading mods from here for a few years and never had a problem, but why should you believe anything I, or anyone else says? If you're concerned about viruses, then install a good antivirus program and keep it updated. I suggest you install one that costs money, because you get what you pay for.

Oh, and everytime you log in here, and check of "Keep me logged in", the website sets a cookie. So do some of the ads you see. There's nothing wrong with cookies.

This site is safe, the mods are safe. Your anti-virus might go crazy, but that was an issue that happened a while back. I have not heard of it recently.

neither I, nor anyone I have ever heard of has gotten a virus from any of the mod sites.

Salute ALL hi ;-)

( want to know is that if the AAA site is trustworthy enough not to plague our fresh, new,
hardworking machine with cookies and viruses.)

The site is on its own server with good securities and viruses gard, as far as I know
The only cookies that will be put on to your PC from this site is if you put it in your
Favorits as a link and if you stay loged in.

( Do you all do this for a living, or is it a hobby? )

Hobby.

( Do we need to worry about any malicious intent? )

I been here for a wile now and never got and any malicious stuff off this site,
But when you are on intent you never know what your going to get when you
click on any site, that is why it is good to have a good antyviruses program.

( Are all the modders above the age of 20? (Because a lot of teenage programmers are proven to become future hackers)

Most are over 20, but some are still teens, as far as hackers, anyone can become a hacker you
Dont need to be a teenage to become a hacker.

Hi,

These are valid concerns and questions.

All Aircraft Arcade has registered members in the 40,000 plus range. Reports of malware attack are rare. We have a concensus to fight any immoral, abusive, or malicious efforts and confront it promptly. Any of these issues are viewed by IL-2 fans as being a personal attack and interferrence with our IL-2 enjoyment. We have many mature professional IL-2 contributors who enforce our ethics. Among our youth are high achievement persons with a shared commitment to these things.

HSFX 4.1 mod pack for IL-2 has been downloaded by thousands of people with no malware or ethical issues associated with it.

Among our members and associates are certified aviation experts. Some of our work is approved by Oleg Maddox, the leader and founder of the IL-2 movement and the leader of the company that created IL-2.

I hope this helps. Smile

What a responsible and polite post!

It was a breath of resh air to read.

I think it's great that you are mature enough to not only ask the question in a very polite and concise manner, but to also take the concerns of your parents into account as many 15 year olds don't!!

Good on you mossquitty!!!

It's great to see a young man taking responsibility and asking these questions. Most people your (*cough* our, if you consider 13 close enough *cough*) age just use sites like this carelessly. I can assure you that none of the mods that I've seen are infected in any way. I've been on this sight for a year or two (I had another account on which I forgot the password) and I have not seen any dangerous mods. The closest thing to malicious intent is just people arguing over rather stupid things. Though it is rather late, welcome to the AAA community.
