not all that uncommon, probably the result of retrofitting the Razorbacks still in service later in the war. Would be a neat addition for nostalgia reasons.
Besides, there's 10 versions of the P-51 and P-38, why not bulk up our options for the the T-bolt.

How about an F2G Corsair? It had a 3000 Horsepower P&W and outclassed all opposition.

Many of the Fighter Groups flying the P-47 in June of '44 were still flying some of the older "razor back" models with the framed canopy. These included the ultimate "razor back", the P-47D-23-RA. This Evansville built fighter was equipped with the latest Curtiss Electric paddle blade propeller. Of all the D models, this one was the fastest and best climbing.

It would be cool to make a new slot D-23 and actually not very difficult considering the external 3d work is identical to the D-22. The flight characteristics of the D-22 were not all that far off from the D-23. I think all that distinguished them was the factories they were built at.
The Malcom hood is cool, pluss it provides a needed benefit. I find the D-22/10 series cockpits to be the most blinding. I've worked on the some of the cockpit and replaced the framing with the glass, as well as expanded the bullet proof glass so the front view is not so restrictive.
There are some textures that aren't lining up properly, and given the extent of some of the newer cockpits i've seen, it might be better to let someone with texturing know how do that part of it.
The mod itself is based on the stock (vanilla) cockpit, so it doesn't have the new gunsites and hoods included in the modded pits. I had difficultly getting them converted for some reason. Now that they are compiled, I might give it another try.
The F4U-4 would also be an easy mod plane to add. I dont think the visual model is too far off from the F4U-1D. Its just that you'd need to create a new flight model which involves diving into java scripting and hashing, which i'm not that familiar with.

Here are some examples of the wider windscreen. As you can see its coming along. I could polish up the edges of where the old framing used to be.

There seems to be a glitch where I can't turn on the supercharger. I programmed the keys to turn it on in the control section (+[numpad] and Enter [numpad]) I also can't control propellor pitch in the campaigns.

They are not as tough as they were historically [two cannon shells behind the canopy severs the tail, SO unrealistic] and their performance is the same at all altitudes! [they could turn with a 109 above 3,000 meters] These are a must-fix!

The FG-2 was a developmental aircraft and only a handful were built.
The F4U-4 would also have to add the chin scoop and have a four bladed prop added.

My 2 cents on the turbocharger: to get user control of this there would have to be an alteration of the FM. In the original FM I think it was decided to factor in the performance effects of a supercharger without giving user control. I am not in on any of the new slot P47 development so I don't know if this is being addressed. I would like to see this in full real mode also for those who are interested in more complete engine management. For accuracy, there would have to be a the possibility of damage due to over-rpm and over heating.

I think the D-10&22 in game which use the early Curtiss paddle blade propeller. It should be a little better than D-27 if equipped with hamilton or late Curtiss products.
