[Video] REAL fire and forget (auto fire) missiles!!!

Why didn't you try to shoot yourself down? Would it work? At least you can shoot some friendlies with them.

It would be awesome if you could shoot yourself down...
These missiles are awesome in the simulator, though, and can be fired from well over 5 kilometers away. Although, I haven't loaded the ME-262 HGII with the missiles in the AI-controlled manner for fear of getting my ass kicked...

However, you cannot padlock yourself, hence you cannot shoot yourself down. Well, of course you can do that by overriding the control of the X4 manually with no padlock set, but that's another story...
The homing missiles can't shoot yourself down either since...:

The homing X4 uses the War.GetNearestEnemyAircraft(...) function to select the target.
First it tries to find some enemy aircraft (fighter or bomber, doesn't matter) within a 5.000m radius, and if this fails, it tries to find some enemy bomber within a 10.000m radius. If the latter fails as well, the X4 will simply act like the manually controlled one.
Since you're no enemy aircraft yourself, you cannot shoot yourself down using homing X4s. Since the explosion is triggered by the distance to the target (which is the enemy), you can't even bring yourself down by crossing the X4's way. The only theoretical way to down yourself using a homing X4 would be to join up closely with the target after firing the X4, but before the impact.

I think you'll find that even if you padlock a friendly it will not seek to destroy it As it is programmed to find enemy targets.

victim = Main3D.cur3D().getViewPadlockEnemy();
Sorry, my mistake.
