Please share some of your most recent IL2 1946 "epic moments" here

Heres my most recent wow moment:

After a hair-raising dogfight and a dangerous landing on the 352Channel map, I was taxiing on Biggin Hill in a Hurricane during an ongoing attack. As I rounded a corner to hide my plane next to hanger, I lined up perfectly to observe a 20mm AA crew that was firing wildly from a nearby intersection. As I cut the engine, the entire crew started running for their lives. A BF110 came swooping down and lit up the AA with canon and machine gun fire, blowing up the 20mm cannon at the moment they all dove for cover! Epic!

The randomness was unbelievably awesome! What a great way to end a mission....

Cudos to the modders and mapmakers who made that moment possible. Big Grin :!:

Its not an epic moment but a scary weird moment

My best moment was when I was flying my Bf-109 then ran out of fuel and crash near my airfield, 2 minutes later 2 of my wing (I was wing leader) crashed near me, Big Grin in and Battle of Britain campaign OFFLINE Confusedhock:

It was real,

I have since deleted the screen shot, but I did happen NO lie!

It was real weird :Smile)

I was in a sabre E model, offline, and i was over the KTO map by dixcapt, I had a flight of 4 then 4 mig-15's dived on our tails and blew all 3 of my wingmen up, i dived and they followed me. I did a role and got on there tail and with about 20 short butst all 4 mig 15's blew up in the sky, i landed on a carrier and suddenly a nkorean ship blew me up on the deck. all real.

Well i just had an epic ( WTF ) moment . I was flying a P47 D-27 over italy attacking trains . After destroying 4 traincars and killin' 2 bf109 s I called it a day and headed home . i was at the base and others were landing than somehow a P47 managed to crash itself on the runway (I seriously dont know how did that happend) than i made my approach flaps down , gear down slowing down . i land but the plane 's right wing touches the ground (this happend at 210 km/h ) so the jug obviously brakes to bits and slides off the runway hitting a parking supply truck and blowing up . I WAS SUPER PISSED OFF!!!   Well thats why I came here to look for some mods and check my topic for answers .
By the way the reason my landing gear screwed up the landing was a bug caused by the mod called " Landing gear damage mod " only my left gear opened .
You can find that mod over at SAS .

I was flying as lead of 9 A6M2-21 Zeros from Hiryu when we where on our way to attack Colombo harbour, naturally I came across the 6 Swordfish who where trying to get away.

We shot down 5 of the 6 in short order, but the last guy did brillantly, he held us off (not being shot down) for 15 minutes, pulling all kinds of moves to throw us off (he was only on Average skill) 8 Zeros, against 1 Swordfish and this AI held us off.

I got to admit, trying to shot him down was the most heart pumping fight I have ever had, and I had to salute that AI Pilot, he did very well.

In the end, I managed to show him down, but still, it was an epic sequence.

I tried to outrun a guy who was chasing me, I had Ju-88 with SC-2000, then I flew upside down under a bride, and the chaser collided with the bridge!

Here is the picture of it as a proof of my flight

I have been building a larger online mission.
When I do this I do a lot of testing of the mission to insure
It works like it should.

I was flying RED in a HE51c-1 doing a bomb run-4 clicks from
Base. On the return to base –low on fuel and ammo. Taking it easy
watching the world go by. Then out of nowhere here are three
Hs-123 @about 2k overhead.
They were flying south. They flew right on by – NOTHING happened.
I was sure that I was going to be shot down.

I continued on to base where I R/R/R and watched the Hs-123. They went a
little more South then headed West a ways and circled back.

I thought that if I at least got in the air I could make some sort of a fight
out of it. By the time I had made it to .5k here they were the fight was on.

In the melee I did shoot down one and smoked the engine on the other, he left the fight. Now it was one lone He-123 and I. We made a few passes.
He was shooting as bad as I.
Now the funny part. The He–123 is much faster than the He-51C-1 so he took off running with me on his six.
He started and slow climbing circle. This climbing went on for almost
3 or 4 mins. We ended up at 7K.
He was well out in front on me- he turned and came back in a head-on.
I made a fast turn and got on his six. He went into the vertical, with me right on his six.
HE stalled and slipped back. Guess who broke his fall? ME.
He clipped my wing with his.
It ended that both were in our chutes –having a duel with handguns at 6K.

Twenty Minute Fight
I met a leader of one of the IL-2 communities and his wingman in what seems to be a chance encounter online...

This is my true story of an online fight that I had a few days ago:

I was flying my Bf-109 G-4 over the Baltic Map in the World at War server of HyperLobby. (About twenty online missions of wide variety are available and rotate.)

My patrol objective was to gain height advantage, loiter over the recon objective, and wait for the late arrival of my wingman. He was delayed by technical difficulties.

Of course, the patrol must stay on schedule because recon is the eyes of the Luftwaffe - no eyes and you lose the war for sure!

Altitude of my fighter was about 6,500 meters and climbing when I saw two enemy fighters at my 11 o'clock low, perhaps 5,500 meters, and traveling to my left, almost perpendicular. "They don't see me yet!", I thought. "This is a perfect position for an attack!"

I closed my radiator and pushed the throttle to full. My tactic was to do a diving bank to the right and swoop down into their rear. I nosed down slightly and began my approach. The true air speed gauge and the tachometer were getting my glancing looks every few seconds: 475 K/h and increasing with 2,600 RPM, perfect advantage.

"Hurricanes!"

"They see me, but too late for them!", I said out load staring through the cockpit glass at the two fighers growing rapidly bigger in my sight. They attempted to bank hard to the left, but I was already too close.

Fire was held by me until the wingman's aircraft was near. As I pulled the trigger, I saw flashes and pieces fell under the target. I pushed my stick, pitching down to avoid collision. Swooping past the wingman, I focused my HUD on the leader. Another burst with more flashes and pieces of aircraft falling toward the water below us.

I looked over my left shoulder as I saw that the prey survived the attack! "How could that be?" I began a Scharnell to preserve potential energy in my fighter.

The next twenty minutes involved their trying to surround me and coerce me into dog-fighting. That would be giving their manueverable fighters both the tactical and numerical advantage.

My tactics were to use superior speed and climbing ability of my Bf-109 over their Hurricanes. With this, I could chose when we engage. It reduced the effectiveness of their number advantage and gave me great defense. However, they were good pilots! It was very difficult to get on the six o'clock of one of them without the other making a shot at me.

I had settled on swooping tactic with forward deflection shots when available. Eventually, I made a few more hits on both aircraft. One of them pulled out the fight while the other covered his retreat.

2 vs 1 in Online Combat with Live Pilots
[Image: OnlineDogfightAgainstPersecuterandDeacon-1.jpg]

"That's a confirmed victory." With some damage to my fighter and losing control of my pitch, I climbed out the fight and turned toward home base.

I learned that my defeated enemy was the leader of a rival fighter squadron and his wingman! The leader had taken a dunk into the Baltic Sea.

A famous ace was killed by me!

Upon approach to my base, I had lost all elevator control. In IL-2, the stock forests are nearly invisible at level view because of the layered graphics that make the forest appear like trees from the higher view. The forest was in sight at the last moment and it was too late. I crashed into the "invisible forest" near the landing strip and died!

The pilot who was shot by me is a great person, skilled pilot, commander of his squadron, and leader of his online orgranization. Despite my fortune to have this victory, he is an ace who deserves honor. He is one of the leaders of the IL-2 communities. I will honor him by not mentioning his call name, but if I did, many people reading this would recognize immediately who it is.

Salute!
