I haven't yet created any Mods or MODS folders yet...

Oh, OK, sorry. I didn't realize HSFX had a Mods folder there. Well, in any case, ignore that Mods folder...I'm not sure what might be in it. With respect to your question then, you need to create a new MODS folder in the root game folder.

I think everything else I wrote is correct.

Yes it was Bulau, many thanks for you and all who have helped, I followed the advice 8) , and was rewarded with being able to fly the wonderful Ki-44-II-Ko Shoki/Tojo

I also correctly installed the Kyushu Repaint & its Update by Redko to a created MAPMODS etc within MODS after having copied the map.ini from Files subforlder group.

The only question now is... what next, to much too choose from...

Thanks to all who made tips in this column..I recently had to reinstall HSFX because of a small glitch in carrier takeoffs & elsewhere..however with a relatively small reinstall I could not seem to install a/c the way that had always worked before when com & i18 & gui were in "Files" folder...noeI was getting the CTd spoken about by that old pro who Started this post...I tried every variation noted here,but with little success...something I had done in the old original install was "haunting" my new one with CTD's with any add-on new plane.I reinstalled 4.0 4.1 4.11 etc over & over...I switched things into new STD folder in Mods,still no joy.Finally I unstalled everything ( saving Missions,mods,paintschemes etc, elsewhere..) & started from scratch( Yes I had a copy of HSFX install but it was haunted by the same problem that got me started.)I did everything in the correct order & also installed 4.2beta ( don't even remember where i got this ..but after many tests knew it wasn't the problem & it added a few new aircraft & features so I thought it worthwhile...) and crossed my fingers . did the STD folder thing & moved the 3folders from files (again..) added new buttons. Teated game it started...but the real test was with new aircraft...and to make this short ,I did one at a time..and so far so good...so thanks guys...don't know why I had so much trouble & why I need to make STD folder instead of just using the Files folder approach...but for the moment once again all is well!
