The eyeliner is excellent to highlight panel lines (expecially engraved ones) and weather, since its very soft point easily fills the tiniest gaps, while the excess is still easy to remove. It's a "dry" technique, so you don't have to deal with oils and/or diluted paint. The drawback is, the pencil gets used up pretty quick, so you should go easy to avoid wasting most of the lead as disposable excess.
Also, since the eyeliner works best as a filler, it may prove unpractical for certain details (i.e. the seats). Then, an alternative is to pulverize a small piece of charcoal pencil and brush the powder onto the surface.
With this technique, a dry brush will leave a blurred mark, while a moist one will leave a sharper line.
