1/72 B-17G Revell + kit review - FINISHED

The eyeliner is excellent to highlight panel lines (expecially engraved ones) and weather, since its very soft point easily fills the tiniest gaps, while the excess is still easy to remove. It's a "dry" technique, so you don't have to deal with oils and/or diluted paint. The drawback is, the pencil gets used up pretty quick, so you should go easy to avoid wasting most of the lead as disposable excess.

Also, since the eyeliner works best as a filler, it may prove unpractical for certain details (i.e. the seats). Then, an alternative is to pulverize a small piece of charcoal pencil and brush the powder onto the surface.
With this technique, a dry brush will leave a blurred mark, while a moist one will leave a sharper line.

Hallo Serpiko,

my old schoolenglish is not so good.
Please write here how you fix the eyeliner. It looks amazing...!
Thank you, Gerhard

Hi Bomberkiller,

you're right, after application, the eyeliner remains a soft paste, so it may be accidentally removed.

I usually don't apply any extra protection on the internals (there's no need for that). On external surfaces, after making sure you have removed all the excess, a layer of transparent paint is enough to fix and protect the eyeliner.

Model on!

Its a shame to close that up with the other body side then your going to louse seeing all your nice work, did you ever think of cutting some parts out of the other side body and putting in clear plastic to make a bigger window out of it?

I considered that, but i'm not good enough to replace parts with transparent plastic. Maybe i'll manage to leave/cut out some "removable" panels

Thanks for your suggestions! Big Grin But, as Deutschmark pointed out, not much will be visible when the model is finished, so I don't want to get mad too much in detailing the interior

And why not cutting some part of the fuselage and doing a 'skeleton effect' with some plastic card ? This way your details would be seen. (it is just an idea ;o) Tongue

Hi Bomberkiller ;o)

Nice one, it makes me laugh !!!  :Smile)  I didn't thought to that: Serpiko is doing planes, not UFOs

BTW, searching some things on B17s, I found a nice website with damaged B17. It is interesting and gives ideas for dioramas...
