Hello, on my computer it works successfully, none of troubles you have written about...
Maybe it depends by different video configurations, for example I run it in 1024 x 768 windowed mode, and I have experienced similar problems with B-17F first version cockpit, solved by last one.
Last May, I made a S.I.A.I. SM.79 torpedo bomber 'hack' skin using Il-4, now as a flyable plane (thanks really a lot!) I could obtain some good shots...
