After putting the backup back in- i can see that it's the files.sfs folder that's reverting the installation to 4.08. When the original goes back in, it says 4.09b1m on the english loadingscreen, but stops at 95% and that's it. I have to hold down the power button on the computer to get out of it.
But it isn't the only issue. The files.sfs MUST be paired with the il2fb.exe that came with the game. If i try the 4.9 files with the soundmod il2fb, then it crashes at 95%. If i try the soundmod files with the 4.9 il2fb.exe, everything's in russian, and it CTD's as soon as i choose an option from the main menu. Now if i put the 4.9 files with the right exe, it get standard 4.09b1, no soundmod. So it appears to be either or.
I'lll try redownloading the 4.09b1m and see if that ehelps. maybe it got corrupted.
