Ideas for new allied planes for the il-2 game - MOD's
#1

Allied planes that I find are needed in the game or could spice up the game (IMHO) and which isn't already mentioned in the AAA forums - just in case somebody is bored!!!

They are not listed in priority order, but in alphabetical order

(Brits first)

Blackburn skua - introduced as the first monoplane fighter/divebomber of the royal navy in 1938, but was withdrawn from frontline service in 1941, due to its rate fatalities. Was used extensively in the early days of the war (ETO) but especially known for it's role during the norway campaign:

Bristol Beaufort - deployed in 1939 and was used extensively as a torpedo bomber until 1943-44. It was used by the allied in both the ETO and the PTO:

Handley page hampden - deployed for the first time in late 1938, used extensively as medium daylight bomber in the early days of the war and despite its speed and agility, it was Luftwaffe bait. It was later used as torpedo bomber (mostly and extensively by the russians):

Short stirling - entered operational service in january 1941, but was due to dissapointing perfomance at high altitude later replaced by both the halifax and the lancaster. Though the stirling had shorter wings, than both its predecessors, it was bigger than both the halifax and the lancaster. It had a fantastic turn radius, what may have been somewhat of a surprise to pursuing enemy planes. It could outturn both the Ju-88 and Bf-110! It had an astonishing payload of 14,000lb (the largest of allied planes, at that time!).

Short sunderland - entered service in 1938 and was used extensively through out the war.

Supermarine walrus (seagull) - deployed for the first time in 1936 and by the start of the war, in widespread use by the royal navy.

(American planes nxt)

Lockheed A-28 hudson/ventura - extensively used by all allied airforces and at all theatres of war. Was put into to operational service with the RAF in late 1938.

Martin baltimore - used extensively by the allied airforces, but mostly by the RAF in the MTO (especially the italian campaign).

Douglas TBD devastator - used in the early years of the war by the USN. Extensively used during the battle of Midway.
