Ricochets and other suggestions
#1

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum, which I found just a few days ago and find it most amazing! Your contributions really got me in playing this sim again. I already brought my installation of IL2 in a dysfuntional state a couple of times :-) I'm still learning...

There are a few things which I always thought would make the simulation a little more immersive or just plain better (besides the tons of mods already brought into being).

- ricochets. On old gun cam footage you always see tracers ricocheting from the target or ground, sometimes projectiles heven hit themselves in the air and go astray. Looks quite dramatic IMO. But this is probably difficult to do, even with simplified models.

- exhaust smoke. Expecially german engines smoked considerably when they worked at high throttle settings. That would be an easy one, i guess.

- would it be possible to "complexify" the radio traffic? After years of playing it sounds boring. Would be nice if there would be several possibilities the program can choose from for one phrase of a special meaning, maybe even situational. Also the traffic is much to artificial, anyone who knows real radio traffic knows that there are a lot more of static noises, maybe interfering messages or sounds, and more distinct cracks of the noise limiter (squelch).

My dearest wishes - more complex flight model, better visual damage model, better graphics and physics in crashes, more realistic weather model (like fs9 with activeweather) probably must wait for the new generation of il2 anyhow. I also wish that ground operations on aircraft carriers and airfields were a little more realistic, along with the radio procedures.
I also hope that the whole product will evolve by principle into something like fs9 or fsx, with true world maps and ground elevation data and most of all stable interfaces for mods.

That's it for now, you guys do a fantastic work!
