I agree with Canon here: these diagrammatic forms were very, very often followed in real life. There are many, many air photos showing this. And for a reason: being an ex-Army man myself I've built a fair number of Field Fortifications, and you actually follow a pretty strict pattern, by the book - of course adapted to nature.

My point is not that there never were variations - of course there was - but if we have the following new trench objects:
A.) Canons single "U"-shape
B.) A number (say, 4, or 5) pre-interconnected "U"-shapes
and COMBINE these with the already existing trench objects, I say we can build pretty much any trench system we want, and we can do it FAST!!!
