I notice newer updates on the a/c installer & wonder ( dimly) if it is necessary or even advisable to keep updateing this tool? If so do I need to uninstall previous version?

It is only necessary if you plan on installing any of the newer released planes. Each time a plane is released with a new slot a new AC Installer must be created for it to work in the game. If you never plan on installing more planes than you currently have you don't need it. Just read the install instructions on any new plane with a new slot and you will see the need to install the latest version of the installer. No need to uninstall the previous version either.
