There is also something else that the LI-2 brings in mind: It flies a lot better than the C-47 and L2D, which are supposed to be practically identical to LI-2 by their flight models..!
The C-47 is clumsy and nose heavy and has very ineffective elevator which results it crash on landing with realistic speeds. Except that the C-47 is a nightmare to land, it does not climb higher than 2.7 k with 100% fuel. Full tanks are required for C47 supply missions in online wars like IL2 War where I am usually flying these planes, so I have had time to get experiences about it. Many pilots avoid flying it, and it is known as 'the worst plane to fly in IL2 sim'.
LI-2 is supposed to be by pilot's view a twin brother of C47, but the LI-2 flies quite like another bird! It climbs without trouble, it is very agile and easy to steer even with 100% fuel and it lands easily with full flaps at slow speed, which results to crash with C47.
I guess the original IL2 sim makers have fixed the flight model bugs when making the LI-2, but the C47 bugs are still there? Perhaps the fixed LI-2 flight model could be used to replace the bugged C47 model? I only do not know how to do it..?
