Firstly, does it cause any reduction in game performance because my pc is not exactly top of the line.

The TIR system uses very little system resources, so I expect you would see no more than, and likely less than, a 1 frame per second difference.

Has 6DOF been perfected for IL2, if not it wouldn't be worth it.

Il2 is more enjoyable and being able to lean around a bit to see around canopy and windscreen framing is far more realistic than being on a fixed swivel point. The 6DOF works just fine in Il2, movement is limited so that you cannot stick your head through the canopy or fuselage in an unrealistic manner.

To those of you that own trackIR, was it worth it, could you fly just as well without it and does it really enhance the game.

Well worth the money and I refuse to play a sim without TIR.
