I just tried this morning your smokes mod and here is what I would love to say.
First of all , it's nice and there is nothing wrong with it .
Some will like high density smoke some will not , it really depends on each individual preference of smokes and colors .
I saw that you kept those black crash fingers and did make longer white smoke trail which used to be representing fuel leak.
Black thick smoke is very close to that of 3rdeye and you used animated regular continuous fire .
Heavy smoke is not that short it's about the same lenght with mine , that's nice , I remeber black smoke was originaly much longer almost twice as much of what we have right now due to removing those black blob mushrooms .
Shortening black smoke trail behind plane in my mod V5 when minimizing this mushroom blob took away quite a lenght of black smoke trail behind plane which could have been otherwise much longer .
Definitely, you gave it the right combination of file entries numbers removing blob while keeping pretty much long enough black smoke trails .
There was back then demand for long smoke trails behind planes but after many guys watching guncam clips with fire and smoke , opinion changed on what fire and smoke look like in reality from guncam clips .
Short trails are now more prefered with rather whitish smoke trails than those thick pitch black dense fat smokes .
I wish I had more time to play with smokes but oil blotch blood splatter took all remaining time to finish and release fist beta versions with Potenz .

you did just nicely with this mod , I am sure a lot of guys will love it with this different smokes configuration and removed black blob mushroom .
I am always saying " the sky is the limit " as long as you make a back up of your files , you can do a lot of things trying to improve mods one after another
