SFS files redundant?
#1

Hi all:

If I use the SFS extractor and then copy those files and folders into another folder for the game, can I then remove the SFS file?

The reason I ask is, my computer is now taking so long to load IL2 with all the mods I have I'm thinking some of the time must be spent by it going over stuff twice.

For instance, I extracted the files.SFS and lo and behold there's all the stuff that is in the UI folder marked files at the top of the root folder. Now, if the computer hits this stuff first and ignores the rest after, why have the SFS file there?

I haven't taken the time, yet, to go through all the SFS files although I have extracted them for future perusal, so consquently don't know what all is in all the folders.

Has anyone ditched an SFS file? Can someone make an educated guess as to whether it can even be done?

Great days all.
