There was an interview in Flight Journal Magazine a few years back with an Me262 night fighter pilot. He said they only used the standard 262 1a with ground radar vectoring to target. He flew Mosquito intercepts, since 262s could catch the Mossie and prop-driven nightfighters could not.
He said the two seat version was only ever used for pilot training. They never used the on-board radar in combat.
Another thing I remember from the interview was that 262s never tried to fly in formations- the throttle control was just too finicky to permit that, so only single plane sorties were flown- even wingman tactics were not practical with the 262.
