I know there are a lot of bombers in il2 but how come there are no B-26s?



Can someone add on to the game?

It's interesting to me why people have this regard for the B-26. It certainly didn't impress the people who flew it, and although a capable warplane it was widely recognised even at the time that the A20 was better. As I've mentioned in another post, there was a major enquiry to decide whether the Marauder would stay in production at one point and production was nearly halted four times. Not all were sent into combat either - the US retained some as target towers - surely an indication of the airframes importance in the great scale of things.

Nonetheless, I keep seeing people eulogise the B26. I remain curious as to why. Don't get me wrong - I'd be happy to see it in IL2 as well, it is an aeroplane used around the world (albeit in diluted quantities) during ww2.

Is it the appearance? The name 'widowmaker'? Or is it just urban legend?
