The AIs already do this but only once you have been targeted by an enemy AI and it's on its attack run. Also, If you have radio chatter turned off in your conf.ini, you won't get the warnings.

I have run into it myself on numerous occasions. The AI will warn me AFTER I've been fired on and have sustained damage. It sucks.

Some AIs are better than others. I think it has to do with the skill level. If you have a wingman that is on the rookie level, you may not get a warning until it is too late. Conversely, if your wingman is on the ACE level, you may get the warning early enough to do something about it.

It may also be the case that you don't get a warning if your wingman is already invovled in a dogfight of his own or has already been shot down. I have found that only my immediate wingman will warn. If you are number two, your flight lead will not warn you. If you are number one and you lose your wingman, number 3 may or may not warn. Usually they don't.
