Hallo Waggel,

Recklinghausen, eh? I am an expatriate Dortmunder myself. Your Fw-190 skin looks really nice (I know, I keep saying that). I, for one, would really appreciate if it was available to the rest of the community. If, as you said you would, you acknowledge all the other people whose work went into making this skin, I don't think that there would be a problem with offering it here. I am counting on the collegial and positive spirit and the goodwill of the community on this one.

By the way, this maybe old hat to you, but some time ago I found a picture book about the air war over Europe, with a few photos of Fw-190 As from JG 1 in Dortmund.

Reference: Boiten, Theo and Martin Bowman. Battles with the Luftwaffe: The Bomber Campaign Against Germany 1942-45. New York: Harper Collins, 2001. See pages 36, 55, 86, 87, 99, 116, 117, 118, 122.

One of them shows a mud-spattered Fw-190A-7 of II/JG1 (Werk Nr. 430352), "Schwarze Drei" in Dortmund, January 1944, with the cowling in a distinctive black and white "toothpaste" paint scheme. Someone recently made a skin for this aircraft. I think, I got it at M4T.

Wasn't there a fighter field in Dortmund-Aplerbeck, either near the military barracks (later occupied by the Brits) on the south side of the B1, or near the old horse race track? Isn't that why there still is a "Flughafen Strasse" around there with no modern airport nearby?

Regards,

RB
