Yeah the 25% recommendation is go on as low fuel as u can manage basically which involves testing. It's always 25 or 50% fuel you'll never use over 50. On some planes that extra fuel makes no difference pretty much and others can really make a difference. I find it interesting what you say about the I-185 but in general I think our courses don't have enough sequential tight turns to make it count. There are turns that are tight and interesting but if you fly a nice line the Mustang should always be the fastest. Oh and about every little bit counts using the same plane, the cooling of the engines are timed to the second for the top racers. They also run the track in reverse to see when the last time they need to cool is so if you see someone slowing down in the lead it's a good idea to start cooling your engine. Or you can time it with a stopwatch like me.
