Because once germany lost the war they were not allowed any powered flight they started using gliders. Our local gliding club has a glider that was one of these german designs. When I saw this glider (A wooden thing that whistles in the air and is quite fast) it got me thinking, also after playing Mr. Jollie's gliding missions I thought we should have some more modern style gliders. They would be good to race with in multi player; instead of fighting and guns could be fitted for fighting which would make fighting that bit more challenging with no engine.
