The potential of the construction design could be seen in the design of the DH.88, which heavily influenced the design of the Mosquito. In October 1934, the purpose-built Comet Racer C-ACSS, Grosvenor House, flew the London-Melbourne Centenary Air Race. They completed the race, winning the competition flying 11,300 miles (18,180 km) in 70 hours 54 minutes and 18 seconds.
