(Map) TIB Archangelsk map V 1.0
#1

is finally here. Team International Brigades new and first map: Archangelsk.
Map fills a big cap of IL2 maps. namely Arctic areas. We sincerely hope that you guys like it. There is 4 versions included: default summer map with AAA UI 1.1 Stock textures and another summer version with mr. Agraciers beautifull set of original textures. Then you can find 2 winter versions. One with open and one with frozen water.
Mr Poltava is working hard to make a campaign for this beauty too and it can be download soon. Hopefully other mission makers will make some good missions and campaigns soon too.

Disclaimer:
We provide this map as it is. It has been tested with AAA UI 1.11 and it worked 100%. We can't promise that it will work with all possible combinations of beta maps and mods. And please, read the installation directions carefully before.

Here is the Installer version Download link 1 Megaupload:

And Mediafire:

You can find more info and some screenies here:
(The link is inoperative)

You can also install map manually:
Extract installer.exe to temporary folder and follow these Instructions:
This map uses AAA UI 1.1 Textures and objects. So You need to have AAA 1.1 Installed. It makes life easier. Only summer map with Agraciers textutes needs to be added

Place the folder 'ag_Archangelsk' in your maps folder in the following location:

...MODS/MapMods/Maps/

2/ The 2 winter maps use stock textures from other UI 1.1 installed maps. Check that you have M-bugs Slovakia winter map and textures installed and you need not occupy yourself with winter textures.
For the summer textures copy _Tex folder to the following folder:

MODS/MapMods/Maps/_Tex

If you have other ag maps installed you may already have certain of these textures in the same folder. If prompted you may either overwrite or ignore. It matters not since all textures with the same filenames are identical anyway.

3/ add the following lines to your all.ini

ag_Archangelsk ag_Archangelsk/load.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Summer ag_Archangelsk/load_s.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Winter2 ag_Archangelsk/load_w.ini
ag_Archangelsk_Summer_def ag_Archangelsk/load_sd.ini

Version with default textures only:
Here is a version that has been tested with Vanilla AAA UI 1.1!
I went back to AAA UI 1.1"out of the box" (lol) version and pasted my Archangelsk folder there. I didn't take any video's and screenshots, but i can guarantee 100 % that it will work With any Pc that has AAA UI 1.1 installed:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=5c3e ... d4883ce4dc
It has no new textures. But it's still beautifull!! M-bugs textures worked fine, because they comes with AAA UI so they are included too.

Here is a small personal note from Team member Mr. Agracier:

This Archangelsk map is for me something of a personal interest.

During WWII, my father, a 23 year old US Merchant Marine sailor, sailed to Archangelsk, on the west coast built Liberty Ship US Bellingham (operated by the Waterman Steamship Co. of Mobile Alabama), with the ill-fated convoy PQ17. The convoy left Iceland and took the northern route around Nord Kapp bound for Murmansk with a multitude of war material destined for the Soviet Armies, then still in retreat towards Stalingrad and the trans-Caucausus.

When Convoy PQ17 was on the open ocean, far to the north in the arctic Ocean, the British Admiralty called back all escorting naval vessels to counter what they thought to be a sortie by the German battleship Tirpitz. The sortie turned out to be a change of anchorage, but the convoy was left unprotected and subsequently attacked by German U-Boats and aircraft. The convoy scattered, with every ship for itself, the result being horrendous losses, ultimately some 50% of transports sunk.

The US Bellingham sailed far to the north, painting the superstructure with white paint where possible, and skirted Novaya Zemlya before heading for Archangelsk instead of the original destination of Murmansk. The ship was struck by a dud torpedo but suffered no loss of life nor serious damage and made it safely to Archangelsk port, where it lay up for the summer.

My father told many tales of what American food rations could all buy in Soviet Russia at the time and of the old ramshackle looking northern city replete with wooden houses and drinking establishments galore.

In September of 1942, with a double compliment of crew from other torpedoed ships, the US Bellingham sailed back to the UK to be sunk on the way by a torpedo somewhere in the North Sea. All crew and passengers were safely rescued by a British fishing boat and brought to Scotland some 2 weeks later, after learning a bit about North Sea fishing techniques.

So if I may permit myself a personal indulgence, I'd like to dedicate this map to my father US Merchant Marine ret.

Happy Flying!
